"Fantastic location right in the centre of York and everything was within a few minutes walk. The hotel staff were very helpful and the valet parking was a nice surprise! I thought the rooms could have done with some updating but they were very clean and the beds were comfy. Overall would highly recommend!"

"Have stayed at the Grand a number of times and always a good, budget hotel for being close to the town and the beach. Parking outside is sometimes a challenge but I managed to get a space so was all good. First time for me being in the lower rooms and good for being away from the sound of the seagulls but not so good for WiFi signal. Also, only one lift services the lower floors so one day it was not working (and so took the stairs). Not a problem later that day but could have been tricky if it had been checkout day ie trying to bring suitcases up the stairs. Certainly a good hotel for the money."

"Amazing old building, wonky floors everywhere, proper faded Victorian grandeur, however... The room was roasting, even with a fan and the pillows were hideous, like trying to sleep with your head on a rock,after one night and stiff neck and shoulders in the morning I went to Poundland and bought 2 pillows so I could get some sleep."
