North Beach Hotels near Carlsbad

"We enjoyed staying there due to the property being on the lake and the weather being nice. However, service there was not great. Front desk staff is very uptight to the point of feeling unfriendly. Called to request extra towels, but they were not delivered. Some umbrellas in the pool area were ripped and moldy, to the point we were uncomfortable staying under them. The gate to the pool area, including the door handle and the card reader, was covered in bird poop that has not been cleaned for several days. On the weekend, their "adult only" jacuzzi was full of children with no one enforcing the rules. The carpet in our room was stained when we arrived, but a pet cleaning fee of $150 was collected. They collect the fee but never actually clean the carpet. It seems like they are understaffed but are trying to squeeze every last penny from the guests without actually using the funds to maintain the property. Overpriced for the quality of service they offer. But the lake was nice."

"The property is at an excellent location to access Carlsbad State Beach. The ocean view is spectacular if you pick that type of room. The room is very large ,and it has a very large patio. Less than 2 miles away, there are many restaurants available. I will go back with family to stay a longer time. There's also a decent free breakfast included daily, pool and great gym. Great for families."

"The bed was horrible! We were so sore in the morning that we didn’t even end up doing what we had planned for the day."

"Our stay was disappointing from the beginning. We arrived about 40 minutes early to check in, but the front desk was having issues with their system. We were told they had just switched to a new system, which was causing delays. Unfortunately, we had to get out of line multiple times and were not finally checked in until after 4 PM. Once we got to the room, there were several cleanliness and maintenance concerns. The bathroom had visible mildew/mold around the shower areas, dirty vents, rust and buildup on fixtures, damaged caulking, and signs of poor upkeep. The room also had stained/scuffed walls, worn furniture, and areas that did not appear properly cleaned or maintained. Staff did offer to clean the room further or move us after we reported the issues, which we appreciated, but by then we had already unpacked and settled in, making it very inconvenient to switch rooms. Overall, for the price paid, the experience did not meet expectations. I feel some type of discount, partial refund, or accommodation would have been appropriate considering both the delayed check-in and the condition of the room. Hopefully management improves both the customer service process and room quality moving forward."

"We checked in close to midnight. Staff was helpful and informative. Room was clean and comfortable. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. In the morning we enjoyed the breakfast which got us up and running. Only stayed one night but would definitely stay here again when coming to town. "

"Weird that they asked for the ID of every adult in our party of three. Usually it’s just the person checking in. For a lower end property, it met our needs for having a place to sleep for the night. Doubt we will stay there again but it served our purpose."
