"Great location, short walk to the beach, old town and bus station. The room was a good size, nice to have a balcony to sit and relax. The room and hotel were very clean. There is very minimal storage for clothes in the room, so more drawer space would be appreciated. Also the layout of the bathroom was a bit unusual and some people may not feel comfortable with the openness of the shower cubicle. Also a better support for the being able to sit up in bed, the open shelf didn’t really allow for this. The reception staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about local area for recommendations."

"Great location if you are looking for an affordable and practical alternative to staying in central San Sebastián. Pensión Beizama is in a quiet area of Astigarraga, with a bus stop about a 3-min walk away. Buses run regularly into Donostia/San Sebastián, passing the main bus station and continuing into the city centre, with a stop by Hotel María Cristina. I travelled alone and felt very safe in the area. The pension is above a small local bar/restaurant, which was very convenient for a quick breakfast and served good tortillas. They also serve meals, although I didn't try them. Within about a 5-min walk there are other local restaurants and places for pintxos, as well as small market and a bakery. I actually enjoyed being in a more residential area and seeing a bit of local life rather than staying right in the tourist centre. My room was clean with a small balcony. It was compact but perfectly functional. The bathroom was also small, but the shower area itself was spacious. This is a very simple, no-frills accommodation, and the price reflects that. There are three flights of stairs and no lift, and there is no AC. This wasn't a problem at all during my stay in the second half of September, when the temperature was very comfortable. Check-in and check-out were both quick and straightforward. Juan is really friendly. Overall, a simple, clean and good-value place to stay, with very convenient public transport."

"Good location. Reception is top floor which wasn’t terribly convenient. Have to pre book parking. I tried but got no response and ended up parked on the street 500m away. Weird spacecraft-style door to the equally strange bathroom and door wouldn’t close properly. Air con didn’t work but they brought us a fan. Can’t get to a bathroom on arrival without key access to a ‘public’ area so if you’ve travelled far stop at services or use airport bathrooms! Bed quite comfy. Breakfast good. Nice views. Nice area to relax and look out from 9th floor at the city. On reflection our overall 4 stars is generous."
