My wife and I stayed at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge for four nights in December 2025. We loved every minute of it. The room was spacious and comfortable, the food was good (buffet style, full board) and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We are birders and saw many good species in the immediate vicinity of the lodge. Full-day or half-day 'game drives' are also an option.
The Sopa Lodge gives an experience of a lifetime! I am well travelled but this is rare gem. The staff were the absolute kindest, most accommodating I’ve ever ran into and always knew our names. The grounds were breathtaking. The meals were so delicious. The room was absolutely adorable with an amazing view! I wished I had booked a week instead of 3 days. I can’t wait to bring more family and friends to experience this.
Rooms are amazing! Pool is fantastic overlooking the Lake Nakuru National Park. Food was buffet full board. Vegetarian food needs some update and recheck. Apart from that we loved our stay and fantastic saxophonist.
We enjoyed our stay. But when we went on a nature walk, the guide did not know any of the birds. You need a more skilled guide.
The other staff were excellent.

Good hotel for transiting on safari.
The stay was pleasant as the staff were very warm and friendly. The lodge is fairly plain and not meant for extended stays in my opinion as there is not much more than rooms and the restaurant. (yes there is a pool.) The buildings are modern but without any architectural flair or artistic creativity. It is a good location in the park and easy to drive to any location for wildlife viewing.
Great property we enjoyed our stay, food and surprise birthday cake from hotel team staff whom came singing to my son birthday.❤️🔥😍.
We did a short game drive and we were lucky to see 2 lion and rhino at a close range.
Only hindarance if you are driving to the park make sure you have a four wheel drive car....the dirt road are not good for small car.
This lodge is in the heart of the Nakuru National Park. Visitors planning to stay here should be aware that they need to pay the national park fee for each day they stay (60 USD a day for non-Kenyan nationals). It is also 22 km inside the park so need reliable transport that can handle the park roads. The staff are incredibly friendly and the views are stunning. Rooms are clean and well appointed with netting around bed and spacious washroom. The only downside is that there is no wifi in the bedrooms themselves.
Newer than its sister lodge in Naivasha, Sopa Nakuru is well laid out and perfectly situated at the top of one of the hills inside Lake Nakuru National park. This made for fantastic panoramic photis and exquisite sunsets.
Excellent welcome on arrival with a drink and a warm flannel to clean up after the game drive.
Good buffet selection for brakfast, lunch and dinner. Decently sized rooms although most of our time was spent either on a game drive or at the pool.
Only issue was that some of the rooms are located on the lower end of the hill. There is a buggy shuttle service but its irregular and gets busy during meal times.
Definitely recommend this as a destination from which to explore Lake Nakuru.
Our stay was so pleasant, starting from the front desk, rooms, location, staff, dining experience and general ambience. We would give all these a 5 star rating. Limo the manager was very helpful, and together with his team were all very welcoming, very professional and accomodating.
The hotel is located in the middle of the National park and overlooks Lake Nakuru and the hills around, giving a serene view. The rooms have an elongated glass on the side that allows the guests to have that nature view from the comfort of their beds.
Each meal had a different menu, providing a nice variety. The staff at the dining were all amazing and very accommodating for the guests that had special dietary needs. During our last meal they surprised us with a beautiful cake to bid us farewell, and we really felt special. We cannot recommend the hotel enough. It is truly a gem, and will definitely be coming back and spreading the word.
I would recommend guests to call the hotel to get information regarding the park fees and transportation beforehand, to make the whole experience unforgettable.
