While we appreciated the excellent location, cleanliness, breakfast, and the attentive floor cleaning staff, we experienced several significant issues. First, I booked two rooms nine months in advance and explicitly requested twin beds. Upon arrival, we were told only one twin room was available. As staff could not separate the main double bed into two, your solution was to outfit the room with a highly uncomfortable camp bed. When we requested an upgrade to resolve this, I was told that there was no availability. Second, your booking system fails to explicitly state that standard rooms do not include refrigerators—a critical oversight that posed a serious health risk. Members of our party in both rooms are diabetic and required reliable refrigeration for insulin. Management's "compromise" of providing a single fridge for two separate rooms was highly inconvenient and unacceptable, forcing me to constantly shuttle back and forth between rooms just to access my medication. Lastly, the bathroom layout lacks basic privacy. The screen between the bathroom and bedroom is translucent rather than opaque, creating an embarrassing lack of privacy while showering. Furthermore, because there is no light-blocking curtain, switching on the bathroom light at night completely illuminates the bedroom and disrupts anyone trying to sleep.

Breakfast at Golden Tulip was the best and I had my best black masala tea there. Only thing I didn’t like was the translucent wall design between the bedroom and the bathroom. Otherwise everything else was pretty much good. Plus the lunch options they had were good too.

The hotel is quite suitable for a short duration stay. Rooms are clean, staff okay, not as friendly as they could be. Everyone seemed unhappy or upset. The food is not that great for the price and not very well prepared. The lobby coffee and pastry shop was really good. Overall security was good but the neighborhood was challenging. Recommend being extremely vigilant if arriving or departing at night on foot.

My new favourite hotel in Nairobi

What a great hotel. The rooms are big, bright and comfortable. The service is friendly and efficient. The breakfast buffet is amazing. The service is friendly and efficient. And it's excellent value! This is my new favourite hotel in Nairobi. The gym deserves a special mention. It has a wide range of machines and free weights and expert trainers. It has outside members, so everything is well maintained.
