"nice hotel with relaxing vibe. its a nice place to stay to hope to see distant himalayan views (it was cloudy both days i was there though, but i still enjoyed the stay). the hotel & restaurant staff (including rebecca, pramilla, deepa and others) are wonderful with always being helpful and pleasant. restaurant food was good with many cuisine options. try to get a room on a high floor, so you are above the adjacent building for a better view. "

"Everything at Hotel Shanker is truly great. I really feel at home in this beautiful hotel. The staff are magnificent and everyone is so friendly and helpful. The architecture of this old historical palace is stunning. The entrance and lobby is so beautiful and great for photos. The garden in front is wonderful and the pool is terrific. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Shanker. It’s the only place I stay when visiting Kathmandu. I’m already looking forward to a return visit!! "This is the most wonderful country hotel, perfectly situated with so many amazing amenities. I swam in the heated pool in the middle of winter. I didn't have a bathing costume but could buy one at a very low price. Sham our walking guide was fantastic. All the staff without exception were friendly and helpful. The hotel somehow discovered it was my birthday and made birthday cake for me, and all came to sing happy birthday. That was so touching, unexpected and wonderful - thank you! My room was absolutely beautiful. I hope to return one day soon."
