"Great stay with easy city access!We had a wonderful stay at the Dalmahoy Hotel. Our room was large, very clean, and the bathroom was excellent. The staff throughout the hotel were pleasant and incredibly helpful.Getting there: If you aren’t taking a taxi, public transport from Edinburgh is easy. We caught the X27/X28 bus from Princes Street; it costs £2.40 and takes about 35 minutes. The bus stops at the end of the hotel drive—just be aware that it is a beautiful but very long walk up to the hotel, which can be a bit of a workout if you have a large suitcase!Dining: Breakfast offered plenty of choice. We also ate at the Brasserie restaurant twice; the food was faultless and really nice, though a slightly more varied menu for a second night would have been great. We also walked to the nearby village of Ratho and found a lovely pub called The Bridge Inn on the canal—highly recommended if you're looking for a nice meal.Facilities: We made good use of the swimming pool and the pitch-and-putt golf course, both of which were great fun.We would definitely stay here again when we return to Edinburgh. "I really love the Dakota as it has a lovely boutique feel, great lounge area to relax in. The rooms are very nice and stylish with plenty room and comfortable beds. The staff are very nice. My first choice when heading to Edinburgh, especially when visiting the outlets in Livingston. "

"A wonderful stay at the holiday Inn ( near the zoo) very spacious, very clean and organised-by friendly professional team. Well connected to airport and city. I hope to return when visiting Edinburgh again. "

"This was actually a two night stay - two separate, sequential reservations - which the staff dealt with just fine on check-in, though despite getting my keys renewed first thing on Day 2, the keys still did not work when I got back to my room - first world problems! Biggest issue was that the hotel only had one working lift (elevator) for ten floors - you can imagine how busy that one elevator was! Breakfast was OK, though the eggs benedict was luke-warm rather than hot. Decent continental breakfast selection, but mini-croissants were not fresh, and there was a distinct lack of any fresh bread (only sliced bread for toasting) - a few baguettes would make a difference! The room was pretty spacious and comfortable and reasonably quiet. It looked a little tired in places, but nothing too troubling. The staircase used in place of the elevator service was somewhat grubby in places and not what would be expected of a 4* hotel. The exit/entry off Calton Road is a bonus for easy access to Edinburgh Waverley Station. The gym, although small in size, was well-equipped with free weights, and the steam room in the spa was a real bonus."
