"On our trip to Europe which included eight different countries, this was by far the BEST hotel we stayed in! While the parking was less than desirable, Daniel at the reception was kind and helpful in recommending public parking near the hotel for us. The room was amazing, the breakfast which was included, was the best we had in Europe and the location was very convenient to the old town and the train station. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Switzerland."

"The most uncomfortable accommodations but inexpensive Appenzell you can’t be picky if you’re on a budget. The room, including the en suite bathroom is no bigger than a standard American bathroom, airless, windowless, and claustrophobic. We did not sleep, no air quality controls. However, the establishment is charming, the breakfast was ample and the staff is ultra kind and the hotel\restaurant is a five minute walk from the train station and superbly located- loved Appenzell and the surrounding outdoor activities that’s for sure."

"Couldn't have been better or cleaner or easier to manage! And laundry was free! In a country where things are so expensive relative to home, this was a nice gift. Would stay here again a hundred times over. They were super responsive and helpful with every question I have. Great location to boot!"

"Hotel Hecht is an excellent Appenzell hotel for travelers. We stayed three nights. Our room was recently updated and on the quiet back side of the building. Breakfast was included so we started each day with a good self serve continental breakfast. Because we were staying for three nights we were provided a “Appenzell Visitor Card”. It covered our local travel on train and bus, admission to museums and the Hoher Kasten cable car. The hotel manager, kitchen manager and all the staff were friendly, attentive and accommodating."
