Top Mt. Shihozan Hotel Reviews
Sotetsu Fresa Inn Sendai
8/10 Good
"Typical business hotel; strengths and weaknesses were little things. **Positives: *I think this was the place that had an HDMI extension cord hanging from the TV; it wasn't quite as convenient as the HDMI port on the by-the-bed panel I've seen at some APA hotels, but it sure was more convenient than having to grope around behind the TV that's nearly up against the wall. *Laundry was a combined washer/dryer; it cost 700yen, added its own detergent and got the clothes 'dry enough' in 2hrs, Good enough for me. **Neutral: *I've taken a liking to (cold) Wonda Morning Shot as my after-meal coffee, of late; the vending machine on the 2nd floor had it...for the first few days. (Then it ran out and didn't get refilled while I was there.) *A BUNCH of convenience stores within a short radius, nearly all of which were staffed by "multi-lingual" types. *View out my window (from room 808) was of a nearby parking lot. **Negatives: *Heard snoring several nights, although I drowned it out with a white noise app on my phone. *The showerhead kept creeping back towards pointing toward the wall, while I showered. It didn't want to stay put, no matter how firmly I tried to place it in its holder. *Toilet paper was possibly the flimsiest I've ever used in my life, which made the sticker about "don't waste toilet paper" in the bathroom feel tone-deaf and insulting."

"Great property location near everything."
APA Hotel TKP Sendai-Ekikita
10/10 Excellent
"Room was clean and spacious for a Japanese hotel. Only main complaint is that they only give a comforter on the bed and not a flat sheet, given that it was 32-36 degrees Celsius outside it was warm in the bed and kept kicking it off. Everything else was great. AC was ice cold and shower / bath was nice after a long hot day of exploring the city. The hotel is on the East side of the station but there is a hidden walk way with stairs or elevator at the north end of the second station floor at the end of the SPal shopping center that cuts over the tracks. Next door is a mini Lawson and a couple of restaurants. Easy base for exploring Sendai and surrounding places like Yamadera, Yamagata, and Matsushima all of which are within a 1hr local train ride and are covered by a JR pass"

"The room was clean and comfortable. I really liked the Onsen that we were able to access directly from the property. I was really happy with the property, but it took pretty long time for check-in. I was guided to the self check in but it didn’t work and guided to the in person check in. A guest who was checking in front of us was taking long time so I had to wait. Also this was our first time to stay this hotel, and I was not sure how the Onsen ticket works, like if the ticket can be used for the checkout day. I needed to bring up the basic question that most guests might have. At the Onsen place, once we arrived the floor, the staff was just standing at the entrance and staring at us and we were a bit confused. So I needed to ask how it works. Then they answered. The both hotel and Onsen property were clean and very nice, but the customer service was a bit awkward."
