At the foot of the Bandiagara Escarpment lies the land of the Dogon. Their villages are characterized by these typical granaries.
The Dogon culture is characterized by the harmonious form of living together. In this way daily life is peppered with small and large rituals. Unlike many other African peoples, the Dogon have been able to retain their age-old culture and traditions. Besides the Bandiagara escarpment in the Dogon Country, the Baobab (Adansonia digitata) is one of the most striking natural phenomena of Mali. The Baobab tree can grow to enormous sizes and carbon dating indicates that they may live to be 3,000 years old. When bare of leaves, the spreading branches of the Baobab look like roots sticking up into the air, rather as if it had been planted upside-down. #ReDiscover #Nature #Adventure #LocalSecrets
