Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel & Spa

Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel & Spa

8/10 Good
"The Hyatt Regency Monterey didn’t quite meet my expectations. My first impression was positive. The lobby was beautiful, and I especially liked the outdoor fire pits, which were perfect for Monterey’s cool weather. Unfortunately, that impression faded when we got to our ground-floor room overlooking a busy parking lot. As soon as we opened the door, there was a noticeable damp smell. The room itself was otherwise nice and housekeeping was good, but the bathroom had no ventilation, so everything stayed very wet after showers. Water even made its way onto the carpet outside the bathroom. Storage was also limited. There were no drawers for clothing, so most of our things stayed in our suitcases, and the closet had only four hangers. There were also quite a few additional fees that I wasn’t aware of until check-in. I would have appreciated having these costs communicated more clearly when booking. I didn’t try the restaurant, although there was always a line in the morning, so it seemed popular. There also weren’t really any hotel grounds for walking. Other than the parking areas, the surrounding property is primarily the golf course, which is off limits for walking. There were things I liked, especially the lobby, fire pits, and housekeeping, but I probably wouldn’t stay here again, mainly because of the damp smell and moisture in the room."

"Pet friendly. Clean but old carpet in hallways and rooms. Beds to soft for me. Fridge and microwave in room. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. Awesome and helpful staff. Room stayed a bit stuffy even with windows open but hotel provided a fan in the room."

"Good central location hotel. Clean room, lot of upgrades were made, shower was nice and had comfortable bed. My only problem was No Milk or Half & Half down at the lobby by the coffee machine. Most small hotels/motels provide a little breakfast to start the day but this hotel does not. The lease you can do is buy 2-3 gallons of milk for $20 for your guest to enjoy a good cup of coffee and not use this horrible powder."
