Relatively unknown to the English (we were the first English to stay here) it’s well worth a visit. The hosts are very welcoming and speak English. "The hotel is set in a rural area although it’s on a main route through the area. There is a beautiful tranquil lake at the rear of the hotel where you can have a quiet, easy peaceful walk and spot the abundant fish and admire the various tall trees. There are small beaches too. The hotel rooms were really good with new fixtures and fittings. I couldn’t fault the rooms. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. Similarly the food and service were great. Despite having a bus full of tourists to feed, the staff seemed to manage the service efficiently. I think this hotel would be an excellent location as a base for exploring this outstanding region. For motorcyclists keen to park their machines in a safe area, the staff offered me the chance to park directly at the hotel entrance which was partially shrouded in decorative tall plants and within view of the night staff. I thank the hotel for making this kind, unrequested offer. It’s clear the hotel is prepared to go just that little bit further. In summary, I shall return to this hotel."

"Charming property with great charm and character in the middle of a beautiful village. We came for a wedding at the Abbey, which was steps away from the hotel. We had a clean room with a comfortable bed and separate toilet and shower room. Bathroom was basic but clean and the room rates are extremely reasonable, especially considering it was high season. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast is excellent and we were very glad to have it, as there are not many dining options in Aubazines. We did not try eating at the restaurant on site, as all our dining was with family elsewhere, but be aware that everything is closed on Sunday evenings, save for a pizza can that may show up on the square. There is parking available, but it is hard to find behind the hotel and awkward to access the hotel from, with a lot of rough steps and uneven ground, so not recommended for anyone with mobility issues. It was very hot during our stay and old properties like this have no AC. A standing fan was thoughtfully provided and much appreciated. I would definitely stay here again if visiting the area."
