Clean room, great amenities, helpful and courteous staff.
Same as the brand always did, everything is perfect and located right in the center of the city. Only downside, you have to find the staff everytime you park or get the car, a bit troublesome and annoying.
The onsens were really great. Awesome breakfast, worth the extra cost. Moderate twin family room has 2 beds , 1.5 twin size. Not small as a twin, but not big as a double bed. Manga room massage chairs and free use space room were all great touches . The Lawson and bus stop across the street were super handy. 10 minute walk to Mito Station . Perfect for a stay in Mito! Will return!
The Onset of natural spring water is fabulous. Indoor and outdoor pools, sauna cold plunge and personal stations for shower, shave etc with everything that you might need provided. Also the breakfast was a wonderful spread of Japanese favorites and you can get eggs any way toast coffee and croissant. We loved the soba noodle soup for breakfast. on the street you need to eat dinner early as we found nothing open at 8:00pm.
Hotel was very clean and well maintained. Good size room and comfortable. Onsen on-site is very good and clean. Distance from Mito station was not bad. A lot of shopping and dining options around. Breakfast buffet was good. Only area of improvement would be for the drinks. Drink selection for buffet was limited. Although I am not a coffee drinker, my wife noted that the coffee was not very good. It looked to be instant and did not taste good.
Another side issue, which I won't hold against the hotel, were some other guests. In particular there was a large group of Chinese visitors and they were quite loud and not considerate of other guests. Unfortunately anywhere people go, you are likely to encounter unfriendly people but it is unfortunate when you encounter on vacation.
Hotel itself and staff were excellent.
Lots of extra not typically given at other hotels. Late night complementary meal, bottled water, snack, and after onsen treat were delightful. Room layout as a bit unconventional but still a nice room
Lovely hotel staff were super friendly but no smoking rooms but did have smoking areas in the hotel on the 9th floor and the ground floor. But the onsen (hotspring) they have in the building is not tattoo friendly
Bad service started from wrong room number written
Check in staff wrote wrong room number on the card with onsen pin. We stayed in room 613 but she wrote 413. We were surprised that someone was inside 413 when we tried to open the door.
We stayed 2 nights but didn’t need cleaning of room. We left used towels and dustbin outside the door. When we came back after dinner. There’s no replacement towels. We need to go down to get from reception.
So far this is the only Dormy Inn which failed our expectations. Breakfast spread is limited choice. They only provide free coffee and water. No tea bag in the free service area. Given the amount we paid, this is not value for money at all, including the staff efficiency and performance.
