"We booked through Expedia for 3 nights. Because of a medical emergency requiring us to drive 10 hours back to RI we had to leave a day earlier than expected. We experienced this emergency on Saturday evening and so informed the desk clerk. We were told we needed to call Expedia since we did not give them 48 hours advance notice. We called Expedia explained the situation and they emailed the hotel to support our situation. We were told by the front desk that only the manager could make an adjustment and to call him on Monday, which we did only to have the manager say we should have booked directly with the hotel and not use a third party. Quite a surprising comment and thought you should know their response.
So, we are looking to recoup our 3rd night’s payment.
In closing, let me say that the work staff, kitchen help and restaurant personnel were helpful, cheerful and courteous. The inflexibility of the front desk staff and manager was upsetting.
I am 77-years old, much traveled and have never written a negative review for any hotel and have enjoyed many stays via Expedia. I feel badly about having to write this negative report but find it necessary to do so.
