"Unexpected fees when arriving. Was told they do not allow cats but they could allow it for $50 a day fee. I checked in at 11 PM and had no choice. Third party sites show “Pet Friendly “ but that is for dogs only I guess."
"The Chambersburg PA Best Western is my go-to stop on trips up north. It has always proven to be reliable for consistency in cleanliness, comfort and overall quality. The staff is friendly, helpful and articulate which I find to be a big plus in the service industry. My room is always immaculate and well appointed. The complimentary breakfast is very pleasing to wake up to. The dining area was renovated in the past year and looks magnificent. It shows what pride the management takes in keeping their hotel a number one stay for travelers. I highly recommend this Best Western to all who come that way."
"This was our second stay at this property as it is in a good location for our business trips, right off Rt 30. We will be back. Pros-we can bring our dog, included breakfast is decent including biscuits with gravy, scrambled eggs with a side of diced ham or some days sausage links, coffee & a variety of juice options, waffles, bagels & breads, cereal ect... It didn't have bed bugs. It has a pool & workout room. There are many restaurant options nearby, like Texas Roadhouse, Longhorn, Cracker Barrel, Chick-Fil-A, Jersey Mikes, Applebees, KFC, McDonalds, Burger King & more...
Front desk is helpful & usually polite. Nearby "Nellie Fox Bowl" bowling alley was fun. The cons- Not all the hotels fault, but not everyone's pets are well behaved, other guests were loud, non-smoking rooms but someone was smoking cigarettes & pot-entire 2nd floor stunk, saw people vaping indoors, the pool was really cold & the towels were empty for several days, the pool room floor is extremely slippery- wrong kind of flooring for a pool, a treadmill wasn't working, & the cleaning lady always looked at us with a terrible frown/scowl. Parking is good, but can fill up quickly at night & our Mercedes extended van was a very tight fit!"
"It was mostly quiet especially later in the evening. It was fine for a one night stay. Parking was tight but I found a spot. Breakfast was ok. It was a good value at <$100."
SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western Berkeley Springs
4/10 Poor
"Tried to call the actual hotel numerous times and the 800# numerous times because we were visiting with people we traveled to see and was afraid wouldn't make it there by 8PM. However, we left our engagement to avoid arriving too late for check-in. (the latest check-in time per the website and confirmation) The line would not be answered and/or would ring into their fax line. When we arrived, I was told "I thought something was going on since the fax line kept ringing and no calls were coming through our desk phone" and then was told " oh, that isn't the correct info as far as the check-in time. We are here all night. I've told my manager to correct it but guess he hasn't" Then the room smelled horrible and let me just say; there is NO resting if you are on 1st floor and near a door. Saturday and Sunday morning; we were awakened all night to slamming door from the side entrance and the constant stomping noise from the room above us. We have stayed at this hotel prob 6x and it gets worse every time. We have decided to stay elsewhere."
"After reading reviews, I decided to take a chance and book for a softball tournament my daughter was having down the street. I arrived very late due to a long drive. My first impression was that the parking lot was sketchy and I honestly should have turned around and left before entering the hotel because it only got worse. The elevator sounds like it’s going to break any moment. The room was technically clean but the entire hotel smells like food, extremely pungent and overwhelming. I’m sensitive to scent and it was awful, the kind that immediately sticks to you. I wasn’t staying here with my daughter. I asked for a refund and offered to pay for the one night and split with them. They refused any refund as they believe they offered a solution. I ultimately understand their policy so not complaining about that… I know I am not entitled to one but hoped they would be reasonable. It’s more to warn people to not stay here. The reviews are misleading and inaccurate. Do yourself a favor and choose one of the two dozen other hotels in the area."
