location is very good, checking in and out was great.Room was perfect and hado everything we needed and more.facilities in the building also good.Gym.swimming pool.Room had free wifi with a strong internet connnection.bed is very comy.walking distance from everything.I will stay again.Great value for money!
DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!!! Went to check in and told they don’t have any rooms left! They had sold our room!! Left my family in the lurch at 6pm during one of the busiest nights in Melbourne.
The room was terrible. I paid my accommodation up front. The room was for 7 or more guests.
When I arrived. I had to pay an upfront 200 dollar deposit for the room. 2 of the lights in the kitchen one was broken the other not working. There were 4 small towels in the room which were all damp and not properly dry. The master bedroom stunk like mouldy washing and pee. The beds were old and uncomfortable. We got no sleep at all. The room wss dirty, cushions on couch had stains and carpets were also stained and dirty. The windows and walls were filthy. The fire alarm went off at 5am for absolutely no reason. I tried contacting property about my bond after checking out, but the hotel was unreachable. All I want is my bond back although this room was definately not worth the $268 per night that I paid and I cant reach anyone. Very angry will never stay here again.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
We were disgusted with the service and state of the apartment. They did not provided facilities as advertised. The cleanliness is unsatisfactory and parts of the apartment are unsafe.
Our main concerns were wet used floor towels and used tea towels that were not replaced, wet crockery in the kitchen, Dirty utensils in the drawers, the broken couch is unsafe, used dirty tissues in the bedside table drawer, lack of toilet rolls and tea/ coffee making items, the tv cable was not provided, mismatched bedding that did not fit the sofa bed, dirty clothes left in clothes dryer, unflushed toilets upon arrival, unsatisfactory service.

Requested non smoking room, bed and bedding stunk of cigarette smoke to the point I couldn’t sleep in the bed, I slept on the single bed in living room which also stunk, I went out and purchased a new pillow and sheets to make it a little more hygienic, I also purchased room deodoriser to try and get rid of the smell. The bed was against a window I couldn’t close and it was freezing all night. No not a good experience at all for my asthma.
Do not book into this place. There is no reception area. Arrived at 5 pm, waited until 5:30 before anyone even came to greet me.... only to be told my room would not be available for another 2 hours and room was at a different location. Dodgy. I was due at a function and was forced to pay for another hotel elsewhere last minute. Absolute disgrace and this booking site will not help me with a refund. Disgusted.

Had better
Room was ok when finally ready! Was after 4 which is not good with kids in tow. Non English speaking custome service also an issue
Do not book this accommodation!!!!
5 people left with nowhere to stay!
When checking in, was told to sms name to mobile number, then received a message back advising no room, overbooked! Spent the next 2-3 hours trying to find last minute accommodation in Melbourne on a Saturday night.
Disgusting customer service, Wotif, you should not deal with this establishment!!!!
Do not be mislead by the name of the Apartment. There is no such apartment name Sunshine Boutique Apartments. The property is actually 568 at Collin Street. There is no reception counter in the apartment. The apartments are owned by individuals and let out to agent to managed.
We arrived late at 10.30pm and there was no one to assist us. We were actually held up outside. A kind gentleman who was managing the security office, helped us to call the manager which turned out to be a Chinese student and said that she has no clue about my booking. I was so upset as full payment was made for the two nights stay.
Prior to my trip, I have written to Hotel.com to inform about my arrival time so that someone will be there to receive us. But it didn't turn up the way we expected. After a wait of 30 minutes outside the lift lobby of the apartment, we were greeted by a Chinese lady. She told us she is just a student and she is helping the the owner who has gone overseas. She said that nothing was communicated to her.
When we get to the apartment, it was not well cleansed and it was very untidy. The fitting and furniture used were basically from Ikea. We doubt they changed the bedding. The washing machine doesn't worked. I booked for an apartment with two rooms but she said we have to move to another place if we want to stay at our booking. The one that we arrived at are only studios. Therefore, my family of 5 was split out into two studio apartments. Bad choice!!!
Unfortunately our stay wasn't pleasant, from trying to check in and being told we would need to stay at another location, to waiting in the foyer for the owner to arrive to check us in, and getting our bond back was troublesome. The apartment had dirty dishes on the stove when we arrived and wasn't clean. We were provided with 2 towels dispite having 5 people stay. We were quite happy to leave in the morning well before check out!
The room was not cleaned with dirty dishes, toenail clippings and dirty mirrors. We were then moved to a smaller second room which had a bloody tampon left in the toilet, dried blood near the toilet and the air was crusty. When given the smaller room the lady squished a bug and flung it under the fridge. We weren’t given a discount due to downsizing which is ridiculous and sheets and couch had stains. The tv was not tuned and came with no remote so programming it was near impossible. The only good thing about this place was the location in comparison to Southern Cross Station (a 2 minute walk) giving great access to public transport. Overall would not stay again.
This was the worst place I have ever stayed. It was filthy, cockroaches in the kitchen, a layer of dust on most surfaces, a stinking rubbish-filled bin, sheets and towels not changed since who knows when. When I complained, I was moved to an apartment in another location; also dirty with unchanged sheets, no toiletries, not even a cake of soap. The next morning I was told to return to the 1st apartment, which would be my 3rd move in 24 hours. I was very upset and decided to book alternative accommodation. LastMinute provided professional service and reimbursed me for the Sunshine disaster. (I have never complained about any other accommodation.)
Difficult to make contact right from the start. We were told there was a problem with the original apartment we booked so she would put us in another. To many things wrong to cover but I have never come across such an apalling mess not to mention difficulty in communicating, in all my many experiences.
Couldn't use oven or washing machine then were told we needed to pack up in the morning. We had to trudge luggage across town to another place only to get there and find somebody else's stuff and cleaners .
We were told they would message when it was ready. 1 1/2 later we got the text.
Kitchen had slippery oil on the tiles when we finally got there but I had given up trying to communicate with this woman. We had to wait until quite late for her to drop off clean linen before we could go to bed.
I don't normally like to speak badly of a place but I feel strongly people should be warned of how unprofessional and badly run this place is. I am still waiting for my $150 bond back and a$50 refund for all the hassle of being moved around and waiting. It's been 2 weeks and no sign of it except being told that it's on its way.
Be warned !!!!!
Sunshine boutique makes a good value for money. Unlike some of the classy mid segment serviced appartments some of the amenities can be improved. None-the-less the service staff was highly hospitable and did their best to supplement the small shortcomings.
Appalling service. Despite having pre paid I was unable to check in. The phone number provided was out of service and despite contacting Hotels.com an alternative contact number could not be provided. I feel totally ripped off as the hotel will not refund my money and neither will Hotels.com.. I will not ever book where there is no on site reception and will never use or recommend Hotels.com again!
This was my first time on Wotif. I wish I had of looked at previous reviews. I don't think I scrolled down enough. The person wasn't ready for me when I wanted to check in. I had little kids and had travelled for two hours already. It's not actually a real business managing apartments, it's a privately owned apartment. The mop was left at the door. The tv was brought up and plonked on a table, not plugged in, no remote, no aerial attached. A light globe was faulty which my 4 year was playing with. There was one bed for two kids (which I had booked) rather than two beds. They wanted $300 deposit when there's no business to get assurances from. Even Wotif couldn't get hold of the owner when I tried to complain, so how would you know you will get your deposit back? It all seemed really unprofessional to me. The photos are misleading. The apartment didn't have the same furniture of cosyness in the photos either. Very disappointed. That all said, the view was great and bed comfort was fine. My kids enjoyed it and I got over all my grumpness (well kind of)
I arrived later in the evening to be greeted and be told no rooms were available. Was then walked 6 blocks to a residential apartment where we knocked on a door and got angrily yelled at by the existing occupants.
Then tried another, which was clean and comfortable. Just completely bizzare of an experience.
Coordinator’s phone never answered, one bed had a concrete mattress, the included bottle of spirits, although requested every day arrived on the last day as did coffee for the machine, requested sheets for the pull out bed arrived at 9.30 at night and we only received one. The trash chute wasn’t working. An unfortunate choice of accommodation. If we had needed assistance promptly it certainly wouldn’t have eventuated. Pity as the property’s location was fine.
There is no reception & no signs to indicate you are in the right place & you are not told this in your booking. You arrive to find there’s no phone number to call to find out how to enter the building. Someone randomly sms you to say they are coming to meet you. I waited 35 mins to enter the apartment. The apartment is ok except there’s no blinds so you have no privacy. You can close the bedroom door but it’s made of coloured glass so the lights of the building opposite shine in through the glass.
If they just said... Call this number on arrival it would have made a big difference.

Close to Southern Cross
With no front desk, and an incorrect phone contact it took me 40 minutes, mostly in a noisy corridor and on the phone to WOTIF in USA to finally gain admission. When the staff member finally arrived he gave the impression that I should take this method of entry in my stride. Registration paperwork was made difficult for no reason. Paying $AUD300 security with 3 weeks refund turnaround, was very unreasonable. This should have been made known up front. Some bathroom lights didn't work, some toiletries were empty, coffee was old and hard in the jar, and very little sugar. Carpets were badly spotted in places and a dirty toilet seat made me nervous. There was no feedback form provided. Don't think I'll be creeping into that room again..............
I stayed at the Sunshine Boutique Apartments and we had a great time there. The location was fantastic 5min walk to southern Cross station and the 109 tram is just at the front door the room Had a great view of of the city. The apartment was fantastic. Definitely we will come back. I recommend Sunshine Boutique apartments
very good location,it is very near southern cross station, walk to here about 5 minutes.also near tram station and sky bus..the location to be able to walk straight out onto collins street.200meters from southbank,.5 minutes tram to casino.a 24-hour ezymart store at the ground floor.
the view from the roo, is very amazing.room is spacious, the bed and pillow is very comfortable for us to have good nights' sleep.value of money.
we would definitely stay here again now that we know what to do.
