Marrowstone Island hotel rooms a the Independent

"Parking was good. The grab-n-go type breakfast was average. Counters were clean and well-stocked. The poor rating for cleanliness was due to a very sticky bathroom floor. It was also filthy when we decided to wash it with a washcloth because we didn’t want to walk on it in bare feet. As well, the room spray when we first arrived was incredibly strong. We opened the window fully to try and air it out, left for a couple hours, and came back to find it was just as strong. My wife got a bad headache from it. When we complained to the front desk, they offered a different, “neutral” spray to use, which we declined. We asked about changing to a different room and was told because we had “used” the room, that was not an option. (Only the bathroom was used.) We were told that because we paid for the room through Expedia that they could not offer a refund, which we never even asked for. This was reiterated twice, and we told them we weren’t asking for that. Needless to say, the window was open all night even though it was a cold night. The bed was a queen on a bed frame with wheels that the “brake” was not set in the on position. No headboard. Mattress was soft. The towels were fluffy and clean. Shower had nice hot water. There was a small microwave and fridge which were okay. We would not return to this hotel. "

"Staff was nice, the view was amazing, the room was absolutely gorgeous, and the drive there was soothing. Definitely recommended and going back sometime in the future. "

"We had a beautiful view, the bed was comfortable, the breakfast delicious and the staff was friendly. A very welcome added bonus was they have an EV charging station right in their parking lot. There aren't a lot of charging stations on Whidbey Island, so that was a big plus."

"We got upgraded to a room with a small balcony so that was nice. Downside, I had an injured leg and with no elevator, the upstairs room was pretty painful to get to. I was happy for the upgrade, just be aware that you’ll be taking the stairs. What I wasn’t thrilled with were the thin walls. This was a work trip and I needed to sleep. That was hard to do when I could hear every s-x act taking place in the next room. And the hooting and hollering and phone calls and whatever else the male next door was doing before and after the s-x acts. My original review was flagged for the use of this word, which was called “profanity”. As far as I’m aware, only adults can book hotel rooms, and that’s a very clinical word. Grow up. As far as location, the property is close to restaurants and convenient to the rest of PT. There are Indian and Vietnamese food directly across the street at the time of this review. Pretty comfortable bed and nice pillows. I slept well the first night, before the neighbors showed up and started doing disgusting things to each other. "

"There was hair on the edge of the shower and general wear and tear in the unit. I wish there was more cream and sugar for the coffee - I would have had a second cup. Those are the things that didn't go well. On the upside, they let me enter my unit early and leave a little late without charge. The price was reasonable."
