"My stay at Home2 Suites by Hilton turned into one of the most frustrating hotel experiences I’ve had.
When we arrived, the hotel told us their system was down and they couldn’t properly check us in. We showed confirmation that our reservation had been paid through Expedia, so they allowed us into our room. Later that night we went out, and when we returned around 1 AM, our keys no longer worked and we were locked out. At the front desk we were suddenly told we had no reservation and needed to pay again or leave.
After seeing how upset we were, they let us stay until morning. The next day we were called down again and told the same thing, even after showing receipts and confirmation that the room was already paid for. We spent nearly two hours in the lobby with the general manager trying to sort out a disconnect between the hotel and Expedia.
Because of this situation, we missed a dinner reservation we had been waiting months for. Eventually we were told our reservation would have to be canceled and we would need to pay again and wait 5–7 business days for a refund.
We booked this as a relaxing staycation but instead spent hours dealing with a problem that wasn’t ours. Being locked out of our room and asked to pay twice made this a very disappointing experience."
