Best Western Executive Hotel Of New Haven - West Haven
8/10 Good
"This was my second stay at this property, with the first being at least 5 years ago. The lobby and breakfast area were renovated, although they removed the old omelette station they once had with staff preparing freshly made food!
I arrived around 10:30pm, check in was quick, but staff could have been friendlier or more welcoming. I was given room 310, which was right next to the elevator, so I could hear it going up and down all night. At least I was not facing the highway so I didn't hear any outside noise. I had booked my room several months ago so was hoping for a better spot on the floor.
The room itself was fine, albeit a bit dated, and hasn't changed from years ago when I last stayed, aside from possibly a new chair and ottoman. The king bed was comfortable, had 4 pillows, although one was quite worn down, and felt as if it held over 1,000 heads.
The bathroom was VERY tight and claustrophobic, toilet seat opening was uncomfortably small, and one of the 2 bath towels was so worn, there were small holes forming, and I could nearly see through it! There was also a long black hair on one of the hand towels. The water pressure in shower was decent, but controlling the temperature was so delicate as it would go from hot to cold when barely moving it.
Breakfast was great, a highlight, including large donuts and pastries, love the yogurt machine although it was basically empty, wish they had more topping options, bacon was out, eggs were decent, and good coffee!"
Hotel Marcel New Haven, Tapestry Collection By Hilton
10/10 Excellent
"Quietest room I ever slept in and the staff at this hotel are exceptional. Bravo. I wish all hotels were Passive House certified and delivered such a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. We also used the hotel bicycles to pedal into New Haven. Super fun."
"The bed looked clean but the floor looked liked it hadn’t been swept or mopped or whatever for a couple days. There were crumbs and other gunk stuck on the counters and bedside table. No shampoo or lotion in the room, just hand soap. Smelled like weed in our room and we paid for non-smoking."
"It’s in a great location but is a bit long in the tooth for the money they charge per night. On the plus side there is garage parking right across the street that is included. The staff were very friendly. The rooms were a bit shoddy but ok."
"The room smelled musty and/or moldy—it was on the first floor. The smell was bad enough that it bothered us the whole time we were there. The hallway smelled bad too.
The staff were having a terrible time using their new computer system. It took over 20min to check in, and that was at 12:45am when we were desperate to get into a room.
I heard another guest say the elevator door broke and she couldn’t get her bag off of it. Also the pool was out of commission."
"We loved our stay at Zey Hotel. Perfect stay for us and our pup! James and the rest of the staff were so helpful anytime we had a question or special request. We’ll definitely be back to stay again."
"My Daughter was sick on the bed and they were very fast getting the bedding changed out. The breakfast was very well maintained by attentive staff members and varied day to day. The 24 hrs coffee and hot chocolate was a great addition."
