"Lovely atmosphere without any kids. The hotel was fully booked but didn't feel crowded. The deluxe room was worth it - lovely coffee from the coffee machine and a little bar/fridge & robes. The location was a short way uphill out of the town but in a nice area and not a long walk for anyone with reasonable fitness, There were plenty of buses. You could walk downhill to a bus stop and get off further uphill on the way back. There was also a hotel minibus into the town. We had a great stay! "

"Lovely brand new hotel with nice room decor. Good sound proofing and outside balcony. The hotel is not central Funchal. It's about a 40 minute walk into the centre. However, we like walking so for us it was a great. The walk into Funchal is lovely. In addition, there is a shopping centre and many restaurants close by. The breakfast was reasonable but not outstanding. Very much a self service concept including coffee making machines. The only real negative was that although the balcony is spacious the rooms themselves are on the small side. When the weather is good you can be outside on the balcony but if the weather is bad there is not any coffee table or seating for two people to sit other than the bed. "

"Absolutely stunning hotel. Amazing facilities including several bars, restaurants, swimming pools, a top class gym, snooker table, games machines a more. Very clean. Many staff all friendly and attentive. Top class breakfast. Superb location very close to the town and with great ocean views. "

We ate outside at the Italian restaurant nearby for the other days. Highly recommended. The staff at Saccarum was more than helpful and nice. All of them. The beds are comfortable. "I always judge a hotel/b&b by its cleanliness and shower. Other than adjust the shower head as it wasn’t screwed on properly I was happy with the facilities and cleanliness. Staff friendly and kindly accommodated my request to have a late checkout from 12:00pm midday to 14:00pm."

"The hotel was great. Good location with restaurants nearby and only a 10-15 min walk into the marina area. Pools were nice and the upgrades for the tennis area will be a good addition. Rooms were great - had a nice view of the ocean. Staff were very friendly and helpful in booking day trips. "
