"Arrived at Gatwick by train needing to stay overnight for an early flight. We were able to make use of the twilight bag drop before heading to the room. Everything was done by use of Phone, lifts, entry to room etc as checked in online beforehand. Room was small but very clean and as we only needed it for one night so couldn’t really fault it. Also had a free to use coffee machine on our floor which was ideal. Would certainly use again."

"The hotel is located in a very good Greenwich area. The condition of the rooms is another thing. I asked for an accesible room and the one offered had dirty walls, stained carpets, totally unacceptable. I finally accepted one with less issues but it had courtains with holes, the desk chair was old, dirty and had broken linings. In the bathroom the shower had mold, the shower head dripped, the light fixture had parts broken. Additionally, the bed head had a light that didn't work. So many issues that should not happen on a four stars hotel."

"Staff at reception on arrival were very unhelpful and told us that there were no charging points. We knew that this was on the website. The room was clean, however there’s no air conditioning so extremely hot. If we opened the windows there was constant noise from the motors for I think extractor fans. The bed creeked with every movement. The breakfast was really good. Just before checking out there was a lovely receptionist list called Francesca who was so polite and helpful. Ensuring that we were able to get some charge before we left"

"We have stayed at the Sofitel London Gatwick Hotel before and their service has always been exceptional. On this overnight stay, because we had an early flight to catch, their efficiency at check-in was even better than I remembered. Other VIP access hotels have many times not given the perks at their front desk check-in. I had brought that to the attention of Hotels.com and an agent said if the hotel is not forthcoming, that we should ask for the perks we are entitled to when staying at a VIP access properties. The front desk agent, Mo, was excellent. Everything was already prepared including the voucher for 20% off food and beverage. The bed, bed linens and pillows were heavenly. The room was clean. Staff offered to make reservations for us at one of their restaurants. We ate at the Mediterranean one. Food was delicious. One thing to note; the Chinese restaurant does not honor the 20% voucher but you are told this at the front desk and so it is not a surprise. I would definitely stay here again. All the special requests we made, were honored. There is a breakfast card on the door. If you fill it out by or before 2am, your order is delivered to the room at your chosen time. We had to check-in by 8am and so got the chance to have breakfast in the room before check-in."

"Parking is great. Pool small but warm…only available 1 hour in the morning to guests. Staff are miserable…rooms badly need updating, toilets are black in places, need bleaching, the hotel feels like a pub as you walk into a bar with wit tv screens blaring sporting events. This is definitely not a luxury Marriott but ok for a night before London if you want to drive and catch the train into Victoria. A room facing the race course is pleasant but the rooms just look scruffy and it all needs refurbishment, it’s tired. As are the staff. "
