"Very helpful staff on arrival. Clean room. The only problem was the “hum” of machinery that meant there was a constant background noise (room 520). May have been lifts or hotel ventilation but tolerable for a one night stay with an early start."

"The hotel succeeds in creating a quiet space, which is the most important thing. The view from the window is iconic, in its own way. There are some design misconceptions: a wet room is installed without floor gradient, slippers or squeegee. The blinds don't fully obscure the decorative purple lights by the window which for some reason remain on. To keep the rooms soundproof - presumably - there is no option to open the window, however the minimum ambient temperature the air conditioning attains to is quite high. The central light and climate controls are not intuitive. The coffee machines give you a different thing from the thing you ask for"

"Parking is great. Pool small but warm…only available 1 hour in the morning to guests. Staff are miserable…rooms badly need updating, toilets are black in places, need bleaching, the hotel feels like a pub as you walk into a bar with wit tv screens blaring sporting events. This is definitely not a luxury Marriott but ok for a night before London if you want to drive and catch the train into Victoria. A room facing the race course is pleasant but the rooms just look scruffy and it all needs refurbishment, it’s tired. As are the staff. "

"Breakfast was unremarkable. However when we arrived for dinner, about 8 pm, several dishes were not available, including fish and chips, meat pie and halloumi. Nothing much left for us, so we ate chips and a sandwich in our room. I think a similar thing happened the last time we stayed a couple of years ago."

"Good location for Gatwick airport with easy parking. The IT was misbehaving at check-in so it took longer than liked but the staff were very apologetic. We had a meal in the restaurant in the evening which was good. However, the choice was limited. Similarly with breakfast."
