"Great stay at this very first hotel in Kaui’i. Room is big and has some local element. Staff are welcoming. Nice coffee and tea selection. Breakfast is simple but good!"
"Great interaction with staff! Kai’s Bar has excellent customer service!! Mahalo nui loa for the hospitality! We LOVED the pool area, and with the brown water advisories in place, we were SO glad we booked The Royal Sonesta simply for the incredible pool! we ate lunch at Kukui’s restaurant and from the fruit plate to the burger and BLT we ordered, everything was ‘ono! Nice that Dukes is less than a 2 minute walk from the resort. DEFINITELY eat at Cafe Portofino Italian Restaurant next door to Dukes. We chose them for our 13 year (dating) anniversary dinner and it was worth every penny.
**We did have an incident where the “guests” in the room next to us #1905 were SCREAM-FIGHTING, slamming into the walls, and at one point the male subject opened and then SLAMMED the hotel room door. How, idk because it’s hard as heck to “slam” a hotel door. They’re literally set up NOT to slam. Anyway, I called the office and security was sent up IMMEDIATELY. Not a peep after that, thank goodness. I strongly appreciate the response of staff. We don’t pay to come on vacation to listen to a bunch of drunks fight with each other. Drink responsibly folks, you’re supposed to be adults, so act like it. Also, so VERY DRUNK man was screaming from the balcony of our building too at one point prior to the other event that woke me up out of a dead sleep.
Overall the stay was great but do be aware that people can’t hold their liquor and this place in paradise is no exception to that. Just be aware."
"Our stay was pleasant and convenient. This place wasn’t too far from the airport so it was easy to unload to go do a little exploring and find dinner. The staff was quite friendly. The hotel is located in a relatively quiet residential area (until the roosters wake up). The room size is decent with just a bed and some closet space. There was also the hotel kitty lounging around who was friendly and cute. We visited an awesome diner walkable to nearby."
"The place was okay. Needs some updating for sure. Well stocked kitchen area for pans utensils etc. lighting, especially in upstairs bathroom needs improvement. Overall a decent quality experience."
"We were some of the first guests to stay at this hotel. This facility is absolutely beautiful and will definitely become a great place for people to stay and enjoy. The location is close to the airport and a lot of restaurants and stores. The property has parking that's not to far from the building.
The room was well decorated and the sheet and pillows were definitely the Hilton level.
The staff was super friendly and helpful from beginning to end with them helping us and suggesting places to go visit and eat at. Kai from the front lobby was great and helpful multiple times.
One issue is that their in house bar closes too early at 1030pm, and they dont offer any alcohol for sale in their lobby. That was an inconvenience since then we had to leave the property to find alcohol to enjoy in our room.
And there was a ton of construction with is to be expected with the recent opening and the hurricane, but a lot of the area where the rooms were at seemed messy and there was too many construction workers around the hotel near the rooms. Maybe completing a portion at a time would have been nicer so not see the behind the scenes. And a piece of metal fell from the ceiling and almost hit us while we were getting ready."
"Amazing pool area and beach right on premises. Never an issue finding chairs at either. Staff was very friendly. Nearby shopping and additional restaurants as well as convenience stores a big plus. Beautiful grounds. Very peaceful. Will return"
