"On the positive side: it is nicely located next to a nice beach with calm water. Big pool that overlooks the beach. Staff is nice and professional. On the negative side,The hotel is a bit dated. And the common area could be maintained better. Rooms could need a freshen up. We had electric issues, phone didn’t work, WiFi was super weak, to name a few things. There is also a lot of mosquitoes and the buggy service that you rely on to get around is very slow, leaving you waiting for a long time...

"From check in to the first night, the rating was 0/10. There was an issue with the room assigned to us and were told by a member of staff , that is your room. When the night manager was made aware of the problem, he started the ball rolling to provide an alternate room. Next morning, I was impressed that both the manager and assistant manager, took charge of the problem and relocated us to a different upgraded room. From then on it was 10/10. Room was clean, spacious, grounds very well maintained, breakfast and dinner buffets offered plenty of varied dishes. Well kept swimming pools, including an adult only one. Plenty of non motorised water equipment and an added bonus is that they offer free boat trips to a great snorkelling area, as well as free glass bottom boat trips. Dining and housekeeping staff all very friendly but special thanks to Vu, Vishay, and Stephan in conjunction with the Manager for making it such a enjoyable stay."

"The welcome at Awali was excellent. The all inclusive starts when you arrive regardless of check-in time and it ends when you leave even if you checked out the room hours before. This worked quite well for us as our flight left at 9pm. The concierge is a gem who makes things so easy to do and has really good communication. The restaurants were fab. I did take heed of previous reviews and brought sea shoes which helped us enjoy the beach much more than we would otherwise. The beach is more for snorkelling and seeing wildlife than playing in the waves. The rooms are cleaned and checked multiple times per day. The Boma is a must experience. I also used the sunset on the golf course experience and it was as wonderful as you would expect. The staff go above and beyond and they are all super friendly. We used the spa and although a bit pricey offered fantastic massages and the use of the steam room. I definitely recommend. The only downside is that they need to increase the staff by the pool bar as it takes a long time to get orders in."

"Breakfast menu offered a large varied choice to suit lots of tastes and requirements. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Location was good, beach clean quiet and secluded from public access. Rooms were large with all good working order facilities, modern and comfortable. Pool large and clean offering beach and sea view. 3 on site restaurants offer buffet, a la carte or bar meals. "

"Absolutely loved this hotel. The rooms are lovely, we stayed in a suite - room 747. And every few room sections there is a pool. The beach directly in front of our room was quiet and peaceful - in fact the whole resort felt very quiet even though it was Easter and it is a family resort, it’s so big that it felt relaxing. There were a number of restaurants at the sister hotel - La Paradis which we often walked to (there is also a shuttle bus that takes you there running every 15 mins). The spa was lovely. There were tennis courts, a well kitted out gym (not that we used it)! There were Beach bags in the rooms for us to keep (so don’t bother bringing one!), Bring sea shoes as the coral is sharp in places. Saw a turtle on our first day snorkelling. But it’s not an area for snorkelling I would say - We were half board which was sufficient for us. Things to improve: Allow breakfast to run later than 10am "
