Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The setting of LaHermitage resort is very nice! It is literally on the edge of a jungle (Beni forest - part of Corbett) which is both a pro or con for the property.
You can enjoy extremely peaceful stay, river/ village walk, services of very nice staff at the resort. But beware it is a lonely place with a real threat of wild animals especially in evening. In fact the resort is in a place Silwar which is over 50 KMs away from main place Lansdowne (a let down for us when we found out after we reached).
Resort is at top of a hill and access to main road is a challenge even if you have your own vehicle. Resort will pick guests from a parking area at foot of hill and for every small or big need guest will have to request for a drop off at parking area which btw is 3 -4 kms away from main road (caution - there is jungle on both sides of the road, straying alone is not recommended). Practically you are locked in this tranquil resort which is in a way good but not for long.
After spending 3 nights here we decided to move to another resort in main Lansdowne and discovered Silwar war warmer than Lansdowne.
My review is just an fyi for tourists (not to demean anyone or the property) -- just trying set the expectations right.
Though I still wonder how management managed to put up a resort here!
Thanks
Its remoteness is its USP. Strongly recommended for those who want take a break from the maddening ground and noise. The staff including the manger were too good. However, loose ends of the property have to be taken care of. The final approach road to the property has to be made pleasant and guest friendly. More facilities for children are required.
Calm and quiet surroundings. Staff is hard working, honest and courteous.
Road condition from main road to the resort need to be improved.
More choices in food can be made available.
The only decent resort, within 8kms driving distance from the Vatanvasa gate, this being a 50 acres property, perched above a hilltop, set with all well provided for amenities, like Aircon, TV, fridge, and running hot water. What more can one ask for, realising the fact that it’s about 40+ kilometers from the nearest town Kotdwar. The twin cottages are lined in a row facing the edge of a hillside, an ever alert smiling hospitable team headed by Manager Nitin, and meals provided to taste make it complete to stay a couple of days. A peaceful setting with a sunset point, a small car park, birds chirping around, good amenities, reasonable pricing, all make it a complete experience in the surrounding wilderness.one disadvantage where it looses out is the limited accessibility for the elderly and the need t9 spruce up the restaurant and its ambience.
The place is very aptly situatedfor people who are looking for peace and solitude. The only sounds you hear is of the chirping birds. No traffic sounds........... the place is very neat and clean with big big rooms. The staff is very courteous specially rajendra and nitin who were very helpful on all occasions. They go out of the way to help you and show you around. A very homely and comfortable atmosphere which has been possible with excellent staff. To top it up the food is also excellent.
I would strongly recommend this place for people who are looking for peace and solitude.
The hotel staff is very Helpful and obedient. Location is excellent, away from the hustle bustle of the city. It's a bit rough patch that one has to cross to reach the hotel but travel lovers will enjoy that too.
Overall, full marks to the hotel and it's management.
Special thanks to Mr. Nitin (resort manager) for making our trip memorable.
Really great stay at LaHermitage. Very peaceful location up in the hills. Clean air, with only the sounds of birds and insects. The room was very nice: very clean, nice bathroom, and plenty of space, with a great view over the hills. Food very tasty as well. Nitin, the manager, was exceptionally helpful. He organised transport from Kotdwar to the hotel and back. He made sure I had everything I needed at the hotel at all times, and was very hospitable and friendly. All in all, I'd highly recommend LaHermitage – it was a perfect couple of days away for me.
