"Sit long enough in the restaurant at the Garden Orchid and you can meet anyone in the political, business or military elite, particularly the main political players in the islands: Basilan, Sulu and Tawi Tawi. The rooms are large and comfortable, the wifi and hot water work well, and the staff is great. Service for anything is extremely slow -- absolutely glacial in the restaurant -- but that's minor compared to all the good points."

"I stayed twice at this property, and my experiences were mixed. The single deluxe room needed a lot of TLC. The bathroom sink was falling apart, the shower had a lot of lime scale, the towels are thin and almost threadbare, there were lines of tiny ants crawling up the walls. But at least the AC worked fine, the bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. The Superior King room was in much better condition (but they still need to work on cleaning those shower fixtures). They have a...
