The wheat baker staff are incredible, professional to a hilt and warm and friendly. I arrived in shock to realise that the swimming pool and gym were under reconstruction and the view from my executive suite was an active construction site. The Manager and front desk staff patiently explained that Expedia was aware and it was on their direct site. The only saving grace was the quality of the staff, at each touch point, it was warmth and understanding. In the end, I drew the drapes and kept them closed and enjoyed the security and warmth of the Wheatbaker …. Expedia you owe me for inadequate disclosure, please address my complaint.

Our stay at The Wheatbaker from February 2 to February 15 for our wedding was truly exceptional. Traveling from the United States, we were especially grateful for the prompt, professional communication before arrival and the warm welcome we received from the moment we entered the property. The staff consistently treated us with kindness, professionalism, and genuine care, truly embodying their motto, “The Art of Hospitality.” The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and extremely comfortable; with excellent air conditioning, strong hot water, blackout curtains, and bottled water provided throughout our stay. The hotel is filled with stunning African art, creating a peaceful atmosphere that feels both luxurious and culturally rich. Small personal touches such as fresh cookies, fruit baskets, and handwritten notes made the experience feel intimate and special. The team showed extraordinary thoughtfulness during our wedding celebration, ensuring everything ran smoothly and that our Family felt welcomed and comfortable. Dining was consistently excellent, with both international and Nigerian options available, and the complimentary laundry service was a tremendous benefit during a long international trip. Security was highly visible, and we felt completely safe throughout our stay. This level of personalized five-star service at such value is difficult to find elsewhere. We left with full hearts and are already planning to return for a future anniversary.

The rooms were spotless, super comfortable and the amenities were as you’d expect from 5 star. The laundry and press service is excellent. The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is a treat. Everything from Nigerian to continental breakfast. Range of juices, fruits and hot beverages. I dined in a few nights and did room service was very happy with the service and food selection. My preferred hotel in Ikoyi and will be returning

This is my second time & it’s still a very nice hotel. Well situated and in a quiet neighborhood. I did not use the restaurant so I cannot comment on food. Get a higher floor room facing the pool but not the 4th floor in raining season I could hear everything & my A/C made too much cranking noise but my room was changed thanks to the duty manager. The staff were most courteous & helpful. I would stay again.

I had an excellent stay at The Wheatbaker. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, with spotless bathroomswhich is always a must for me. Breakfast was lovely, offering a good selection of fruits, continental options, and African-style dishes. I especially appreciated being able to order fresh coffee in the mornings. The restaurant food was so good that I often chose to dine in the hotel most evenings. Room service is available 24 hours, and the bar is fantastic with creative cocktails and a great wine list. The location is convenient and in a nice, walkable neighborhood, making it easy to get around. Most of all, the staff were exceptional—friendly, respectful, and genuinely welcoming, which made my stay even more enjoyable.

Wheatbaker is a nice, thoughtful hotel. The room I stayed was clean and I was quite satisfied with the room However, the hotel is currently undergoing renovations and so there was no access to the pool or gym. The front desk seems to have been moved to accommodate the reno going on. Overall excellent time was had during my stay. I will be back for sure and highly recommend.

Unfortunately the Wheatbaker is not what it was!

Unfortunately the Wheatbaker is not what it was! I was not notified beforehand of extensive renovations which have closed the gym, pool, spa and a dining room plus much of the reception area. The attention to detail in the service has gone and the rooms are now tired. The communal areas had the a/c turned off and I was told this was because the staff were too cold! Never mind the guests!

Avoid unless you like uncleaniness

Unfortunately there is a construction ongoing which means there is no pool, no gym and no spa. The hotel is tired and needs a refresh of all of its rooms. My room had a broken and beaten up fridge, marks everywhere, not clean. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable. Cleaning is very superficial. The breakfast is some of the worst I have experienced in Nigeria. The only thing is that the price reflects the quality which is the only saving grace
