We have been on many vacations never have we been charged extra for them to clean the room. And fyi the room was not that clean when we got there with panties in the trash can. "The room was so small that I could barely fit my suitcase in. There was a really bad smell when I opened the room and even if I opened the windows all night I couldn't get rid of the smell. The apartment has no front desk at all."
