"As other have pointed out this is an older Belle Époque hotel which has lots of fading charm and some real character. It’s set back from the busy seafront in a large tropical garden - we had a sea facing room on an upper floor so the view of the sea and coast as well as the gardens was beautiful. The room was spotless, but small (that may just be the level of room we booked however). Some parts of the hotel could do with some tlc but for the location - a minute or two’s walk from the beach - it was good value. The pool is medium sized and was busy with families, but there seemed to be room for everyone and it was friendly (it was August, so the whole of the Côte d’Azur is super busy!). The staff at the hotel were very helpful and breakfast on the terrace was decent. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel as there is a wide choice of dining options on the seafront and the road just back from the beach - at all levels and prices. There is a huge parking area by the back of the hotel and a lift from that level, so it was easy to unload and load up."

"Bonjour The Desirade seems like a place for French people travelling within France, but if you are from elsewhere you can discover this little gem too. The owners speak French so it was good that I brushed up on my French so that we could communicate a little bit. My husband and I went for our honeymoon and it was perfect for this. It was quiet and peaceful. We made use of the pool almost every day. We liked some of the details like the board games and leaflets about local activities. We wanted a place where we could cook some of our own meals and it had all the items you need for this - pans, crockery, salt, mixed spices, chopping boards. Oh and most importantly: wine bottle openers! Bon voyage!"

"Beautiful property, exceptional views and the staff were wonderful. A few special mentions because hospitality means everything to me beyond service. Jenna at the front dest, repeatedly helped me with my unusual requests, always with a smile and kindness. The concierge team - every single one of them went above and beyond with recommendations, accommodations and promptness. At the pool, a special shout out to the twins, Mateo and Stella. They went above and beyond to make my poolside service exceptional and personal. They embodied true hospitality in their continual service. Les Roches Blanches in Cassis is 5 star with reason. They do not and did not miss an opportunity to provide excellence in every area. Highly recommend, even if it’s slightly out of your price range."

"The hotel in La Ciotat is next to the harbour, plenty of restaurants and bars a short walk away. The hotel is clean, modern and smart with excellent staff who were friendly and knowledgeable. The pool is great with amazing views over the harbour. The gym is not worth visiting, needs updating and given its own room. The car park is large but a little tricky to find but can be found on Rue Lapèrouse, 13600 La Ciotat, France. The car park is large and well lit with easy access to the hotel from inside. We stayed when there was a market outside, but this couldn’t be heard from inside the lovely air conditioning room with comfy bed and a lovely view from the balcony over the harbour and boats. The room was a little dated, but was freshly decorated and in excellent condition."
