The best thing about the hotel was the rooftop pool! The buffet for bfast and dinner was very nice.
Unfortunately the rims, while clean, were very dated.
This hotel is in a great location. We were able to walk to the ferry port. It is walking distance to the bus station. The dinner buffet was excellent. There were many varieties of food. Our room was clean and faced Lake Akan. A great place to stay!
Hotel is a time warp, step back into the boom times of 1980 Japan. Roof top heated pool with a view of the lake and volcanoes in the background! I need to say no more!
The rooftop mixed onsen was a big surprise, but super nice as we don't usually get to be with family members of other sex. (You do provide basic swimwear). It was so nice to look over the lake and just chill out in the onsen upstairs, but the main onsen were also incredible. Food options were plenty in the restaurant (buffet style), and it's so close to the Ainu Kotan... definitely worth a visit!!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Nice view of the lake, both from the room and the onsen
In-room bathroom was dated though
Good selection of food for both dinner and breakfast
The property is a mixed bag the food and staff were excellent. However the room was was in very poor condition and badly overdue for refurbishment. For the amount of money charged the rooms will be a definite disappointment.
The staff was friendly, but the room and the dinner buffet was not up to standard! The hotel itself it's really old it needs a makeover all around. Luckily it was for one night only.....
The front desk was a little standoff ish. I arrived at 9pm and you would have thought the world was ending. Just a massive hotel with a lot of people. The onsen was super crowded and lots of the surrounding restaurants close earlier than mentioned. A bit pricey for the style of room, but very limited availability in the area.
It should be renamed the Old Akan Hotel, as the rooms are probably 1960s in style and amenity. It was definitely overpriced, given the small bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom was so small, there was not even space to put bottles of shampoo and body soap. These were provided in sachets. The hotel seems to have had a facelift on the outside and in the lobby and restaurant areas, but the rooms were ordinary. Not worth the money charged.
Matsalen var överbelastad och fullt av matos i hela lokalen. Det var en stor buffé men maten var rätt dålig. Det var inte heller speciellt städat på hotellet utan det kändes väldigt nedgånget.
