Love this place, Staff was friendly, Helpful , Also I love that place has kitchen, even though Hong Kong is the place to enjoy a street food, still you want to cook something that get from tradition market. PS : Even they offer free Tea and Coffee!

The Yau Ma Tei Yesinn has changed quite a lot since I stayed there a long time ago. The location remains the same, very close to the MTR and a lot of local markets (Temple Street Night Market, Jade Market, Fruit Market, etc.). It's still a decent hotel, especially for a quick stay, but the condition has definitely seen better days and the cleanliness could be better too.

I had no issues with the hostel, it was clean and very cost effective. I showed up late and they made getting keys accessible. Good area and nice to have some storage

Room was covered in black mould. All on the walls and in the bathroom. I contacted Expedia to tell them and was offered to leave and get a refund or stay and get a coupon. The staff moved me to another room which was equally as bad as the first. The second room I was moved to had black mould on the wall by the bed and they had covered it up with a sheet of translucent plastic. The walls were cracked and mouldy and the whole building was dilapidated. The staff said that the building was 10 years old - the age of the building doesn’t matter, it has not been maintained at all. This was extremely expensive for what it was. Under the bed was not cleaned at all. There were left over socks and underwear. Also the USB sockets did not work.

For the price and location you can’t really beat it. I stayed in a private room with a bathroom. Ron was small but doable. Room was clean but showed a lot of wear and tear around the edges. Half of my stay one of the two elevators was out of commission which made going up and down quite a hassle. One evening (around 5pm) we all waited for the maintenance man to stop at each floor and collect garbage. We waited forever. Couldn’t this have been done overnight knowing there was only 1 elevator working? Great location, steps away from Nathan Street and the subway. For a single guy who was only there for a week it was good. Would I have spent a bit more on something a little better? Probably. But it was a good place to rest at night.
