The hike from Torshavn to the old bishopric and royal residence where the Norwegian King Sverre grew up, takes a few hours. In the Middle Ages Kyrkjebo was the cultural and religious center in the Faroe Islands. The old log house is told to be Europe’s oldest timber building, around 900 years old. This is an excellent location, near to shops, restaurants and historic sites. The room, shared bathroom and public areas were clean with cooking and eating supplies.My frustration was the lack of a convenient wall outlet to charge a phone and bright bedside table lamps.
