Cycling tours are an excellent and inexpensive way to explore Kempele and the traditional Finnish countryside. For a break, cool off at the old rock pit lake at Ouluntulli, an old quarry transformed into a lovely swimming beach.
Nearby is the Kempele Museum which houses many old buildings from around the region, including a windmill and fish sheds. You should also visit the Kempele Old Church with its tall church tower, which was once an important landmark for seafarers.
If the weather is less than perfect, the Zeppelin Shopping Centre nearby has almost 100 shops and an impressive collection of restaurants for you to explore, so make sure you have plenty of time set aside.
