"Scottish gothic meets Fawlty towers. Carpets were worn, bed like marshmallow, bath big enough for toddlers. Food was ok but not brilliant. Staff were entertaining. Dark wood panelling, windows that needed a good clean. But the bones were good and I could feel the ghost of Rabbie walking the grounds"

"Parking on street but plenty of it. Breakfast was decent and the room itself was large and comfortable. Main problem was a lack of hot water so I had to endure a rather cold shower."

"We stayed in the Annex and it was beautiful and private. It was updated, bright and clean. However the bed and couch desperately need to be replaced. The couch was broken and hitting the floor and the bed was old and springy. Also, we got great recommendations for dinner, but once we decided to go eat we were informed by every single restaurant that we needed a reservation. That would have been good to note ahead of time since that seems to be well known in downtown Dumfries. I would still highly recommend this place."

"Parking was easy, lots of spaces close to the Reception area and 24hrs of free cover provided in our overnight booking. Room was clean and functional, albeit slightly dated but everything worked - perfect for an overnight stopover. There were plenty who had dogs with them and a small lake at the back of the property for walking around. We couldn't hear any real noise from the nearby roads and the bedding was great, very comfortable. The Receptionist was also really helpful and friendly "
