"Stayed one night but really loved the vibe of this place. All remodeled rooms and great oceanfront location. We love the LavaLava Beach Club for the live music and great drinks. Convenient to the airport and shopping."
"It was such a pleasure to stay here. I loved that they have a machine that provides filtered water to fill out water bottles. It’s right next to a plaza where you have a market and cute shops."
"The location of the hotel is beautiful and is right on the beach. It isn’t a swimming beach though but beautiful nonetheless. There is no onsite dining options but there are lots of restaurants and other options nearby. The staff were friendly but the rooms were extremely outdated. The mattresses were not underneath a box spring and I woke up sore almost everyday. The most annoying part is that I booked the trip through Expedia and paid for two queen beds with a card view. The first night we arrived we had one queen bed and a sleeper sofa. I asked the front desk about it and they said that was only “a request” and that they didn’t have to provide us a room with two queens if it weren’t available. The next morning we went to the front desk and the gave us a room with one full bed and one queen bed. We lost the view that we had. It’s extremely annoying to not get what you paid for."
"This apartment complex has a great location on the east of the island right on the beach. The beach is not recommended for swimming due to waves, currents and rocks. Many restaurants around to choose from. No breakfast restaurants on the property and the only restaurant they have is not open every day. The studio had worn out king size mattress, where the body sank in without spinal support. The shower didn’t stay up well and needed to be adjusted throughout the entire length of shower. No full size mirror and only 1 mirror in the bathroom that sweats when the shower is taken. It is not a hotel, so no cleaning/garbage emptying/towels. Swimming pool area appeared nice. They had many kids in that area. The gym had plenty of equipment for us to use. The toilet had black mildew and the room smelled."
"Fern Grotto Inn (Coco D) was beautiful & comfortably furnished. Nice floral surprises everywhere with some yummy snacks, water & beer in the frig. Plenty of kitchen wares. There was Illy Coffee too. Our queen bed was very comfortable, although a bit high (I'm 5'6"). We were on the second floor (no elevator), which made for some nice views of the river from the kitchen/dining area.
The grounds are absolutely stunning with beautiful plants & flowers everywhere. The Inn is located between Kapa'a & Lihue. Lots of things to do, restaurants & shopping nearby. You can go kayaking from the property to Fern Grotto, visit Smith's Garden & Luau (pricey, but includes a great meal & show). Need to book in advance. It's a very short drive from the Inn. Definitely do the doors off 1 hour helicopter tour of Kauai with Ali'i (expensive, but SO worth it!) from Lihue. Also, go to Allerton Garden & Estate (south) & Kilauea NWR (north). Too many things to do & so little time! We were there 4 nights.
There is some road noise, even with the windows closed & there are roosters that like to crow at various times of the day or night, but there is Alexa that you can play music or white noise to offset any sounds.
Paul was out of state, but we got to meet Rick. Great guy! Thanks Rick!
Definitely a must stay!"
