I’ve stayed at Sheywe at least ten times with teams I have brought with me. But will not be going back. This last time proved to be the final straw. Toilets that were dirty and did not flush, cold water showers, food (chicken)!that was undercooked, making a team member sick. I love the staff and am friends with them, but I cannot risk our health.
Please don’t sell this to anyone. FILTHY beyond explanation. We changed rooms 3 times due to poor maintenance. No air conditioning, bathrooms are filthy beyond words with little shower basins that are badly stained. Toilets are filthy, sinks are not cleaned, beds are below standards, mattresses are paper thin, bedsheets are worn out, towels are poorly washed and stained ( I couldn’t bring myself to use them). Breakfast was substandard, restaurant was small and overcrowded, the outside is unkept with broken car shed and I maintained vegetation....the list is endless
Staff were really good and supportive. The Rooms were clean and regularly serviced; if you need something you just have to ask and they will sort it. Food was good, with a big selection for Kenya. Their restaurant makes great curry! We had problems with a door that didn't lock and they moved us to a better room straight away. It is not 5*, but for a decent and simple hotel, for this area, it was great. We would go there again. They have suites with kitchens and a living area and kindly upgraded us to one of these which was really helpful.
