"We really enjoyed our stay at the Rutland Arms Hotel. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Located in the heart of the town, the hotel itself oozed character and our room had lovely view of the tower on the hill. The pub was a lovely place to dine and relax, and the food was lovely."

"Major renovations going on. Couldn’t use outdoor area as they are renovating. Work started early in the mornings . One morning it was like a Jack hammer right outside our room. Would have been nice to have been notified about this before our stay, as we picked the room for the outdoor area, which could not be accessed. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. "

"Upon arriving we were impressed with the appeal of this property. The staff were at Reception to meet us. We were given a quick tour of the amenities, and shown to our room which was clean and light. The bathrooms and showers are lovely and there is a separate room with a deep bath. The guest kitchen has set tables, and tea, coffe is available. There is a separate kitchen for meal preparation. The guest lounge is of a period time, with clean and comfortable seating. There is a large lawn and garden area with fruit trees. A laundry area too, with line drying if needbe. The house is over from the Whanganui river, and a 20 min stroll to the city centre. Great paths for running and cycling, with a fantastic playground nearby. "
