Good down home stay, nothing fancy, the coffee is good, mattresses soft, room clean, water pressure good. The staff are friendly and helpful. Good base for exploring the area.
It was a cute little place with little extra amenities we didnt expect in the room. They had donuts and water waiting for us. Check in was fast and the attendent was very nice. We had an error with our reservations but he was so calm and didnt use fault. Just very nonchalant. He even happily brought us some extra towels. We had not complaints about the service, amenities, or our room.
We didnt really care for the sharp narrow entry into the motel but it worked and was very private.
Neat little place and very clean. These kids are doing a great job revamping this motel. If you have a large rig or pickup the parking might be difficult. Great stay for an inexpensive room.
Friendly, available staff. A little noisy up to quiet hour, but pin-droppy after that (10pm). The room was clean and smelled fresh. Parking is a little awkward.
The John Day Motel doesn’t pretend to be anything more than it is: a friendly, reasonably priced place to stay staffed by very nice people. It’s an older facility but well kept. After a long day of driving we were in need of a good shower and a comfortable bed - we found both at the John Day Motel!
Little things like the bottles of water and snack basket in the room along with ear plugs if it got too noisy (it didn’t!) just added to the charm of the place. It’s also a short walk to several restaurants and other shops.
We will definitely stay here again when our travels take us to that area. Only 13 rooms so making a reservation is probably a good idea!
Think of a poorly remodeled old Motel 6 with thin walls and you have a pretty good description of the motel. The room does come with earplugs, but that did not help with the walking noises in the room above me, conversations in other rooms, and a noisy motorcycle and truck in the early morning.
