Top notch boutique hotel in a gated area of Kempton Park. Pictures are of Suite 1 which has a beautiful private courtyard & can be viewed from a jetted tub in the bathroom.

Romantic and peaceful stay

This is a cracking little gem of a hotel. All the staff are super friendly, the food is excellent and has a personal touch from the chef's. Rooms are very comfortable and sitting in the garden in front of the wood fire after dinner was so relaxing. The spa treatments are highly recommended. All in all a perfect place to stay. Will be back when we are back in the area. Thank you for a great stay.

Stayed for one night on a layover for flights at Tambo. Could not recommend this place more highly. Unique small boutique hotel in safe location with all the amenities. Ease of access to/from airport with friendly and helpful drivers - even helping with my luggage and walking me through check-in to ensure no problems before they left. On-site staff thorough and accommodating. Dinner and breakfast high quality food and service. Room clean and interesting.

Very convenient to airport. Room is somewhat small. Only access is via exterior. Not good if it rains. Food is mixed in quality. Did a very good game dish. Breakfasts were not very good.

Airport-Nähe, dabei ruhig und Afrika-Feeling

Das Hotel liegt in einem durch Wachen, Zaun, und Gate gesicherten Wohngebiet (residential area). Im abgesicherten Bereich fühlte ich mich sicher (viel sicherer die umliegende Gegend). Abholung vom Flughafen (kostenlos) und Aufenthalt war sehr angenehm. Wenige Zimmer: d.h. wenige Gäste und in meinem Fall ruhig. Kleiner Nachteil: Alle Zimmer sind ebenerdig (wenn ich richtig gesehen habe) und man kann von außen reinschauen, wenn der Vorhang offen ist. Nicht jedermanns Sache. Einrichtung ist in einem modernen Afrika-Stil. Ein bisschen Ferienstimmung kommt auf. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Für mich war das Hotel perfekt, weil ich einen Aufenthalt in Johannesburg vor dem Weiterflug hatte und in der Nähe des Flughafens bleiben wollte, aber nicht in das Spieler-"Paradies", wo viele der übrigen flughafennahen Hotels angesiedelt sind (schlechte Erfahrung). Ich würde es wieder buchen, um mich vor der Weiterreise vom Flug zu erholen. Die Hotelküche ist gut aber für südafrikanische Verhältnisse nicht billig (3 Gänge, 2 Gläser Wein: ca 500 R). Eine Küche für so wenig Personen ist aber auch aufwendig und das war dann ok. Ich war froh über das Angebot, daher kein Punktabzug.

Excellent stay!!!

I love African Rocks Hotel! I trusted the other reviews and they were right. The driver Kelvin who met us and the airport was wonderful, friendly and professional, the cook Christine was so welcoming and the food was excellent; it was like having a private chef! The hotel itself is lovely, serene, clean modern, and the perfect stop after a long transatlantic flight. Highly recommended.

Found Africian Rock Hotel to be in a secure area; owners introduced themselves and welcomed us; all staff were obliging, helpful and friendly; great pickup/ drop off service for airport; Christine, the chef prepared an absolutely delicious 5 course meal. Would recommend.

Nice boutique hotel with good security

Our stay at the hotel for 2 nights was very pleasant. The staff was helpful and offered to shuttle us to a couple of different places. Unfortunately, we were under the impression that the shuttle service was complimentary because there was no mention of a cost associated with the service. It was a surprise to see some very expensive charges for the shuttle services. Other than that, our experiences were all positive.
