Izola Marina has been the heart of the historic town since its early days as a Roman port. The marina is one of the country’s largest and its long breakwater creates a sheltered and serene environment for taking in the sights.
Meander through the narrow alleys of this quaint part of town and see the streets open up into a scenic waterfront precinct. Stroll around the port, admiring the extensive views of the town and surrounding coastline. Capture photos of the green foreshore extending out along the curved coast. Look back on the town to see its red rooftops and the towering steeple of the 16th-century Church of St. Maur, which rises above the rest of the town. Gaze up above the marina to spot the large national flags of Slovenia, Italy and several others. You might see fishing boats coming in to unload the daily catch.
Pick out your favorite yachts from the rows of impressive vessels. Stroll along the long concrete and wooden piers that jut out into the water. The marina provides berths for around 700 boats. Chat with one of the harbor’s tour operators and embark on a cruise along the picturesque Adriatic Coast.
The area is also home to sailing events, such as the Austria Cup. Watch regattas and other activities from the shore. Play tennis on the marina’s courts or go for a swim in the pool. Try your luck at the waterfront casino. Relax with a picnic on one of the foreshore park areas.

Izola Marina is a short walk from the town’s historic center. Ride a bus to one of the many stops in the area. Nearby attractions include Lighthouse Park (Park Ob Svetilniku) and its adjoining beach.
