Fish for yellowbelly at Oma Waterhole, then explore the fascinating dinosaur fossils at the Outer Barcoo Interpretation Centre. Visit the Bulldog Waterhole for excellent birdwatching, or ask locals about their favorite spots to see kangaroos around town.

The view from the lookout on Mt Slocombe, located near Yaraka, Queensland. The views overlook the Yang Yang Ranges and nearby farming plains. This shot was taken at dawn just as the sun was about to break above the horizon on the other side of the lookout. I was surprised how still it was atop the mountain (or technically a jump up). Make sure you stop by this lookout and enjoy a refreshing drink with the friendly locals at the Yaraka Hoel before traveling further west into Outback Queensland.
