Top Ionian Coast Hotel Reviews

Sextantio Le Grotte Della Civita

10/10 Excellent

"The best experience, everything was just great. Exceeded our expectations in all areas. Definitely stay their when come to Matera. No other luxury places beat it in Matera."

Aquatio Cave Luxury Hotel & SPA

8/10 Good

"Generally good, just the following observations: 1, wifi in our room is very weak, close to none. Sure it is a cave but we also stayed in another luxury cave hotel in Matera and their WiFi was superb. 2, for this price even including the SPA facikity, we expect just a bit more or lower price. 3, we booked a suite but the suite we had was slightly different from the one we saw on the Internet, both the hotel's and Expedia's. There was only one chair in our suite, and we were travelling as two, so..... This goes back to point 2, taking everything into account for this price, the hotel has not exceeded our expectations."

Hotel San Domenico al Piano

10/10 Excellent

"Great property in an outstanding location near an entrance to the Matera Sassi. Clean rooms and comfortable beds were nice to stay in. In addition to the Sassi access and hotel cleanliness, the breakfast was truly outstanding. It featured a variety of coffees, pastries and fruits along with other breakfast items in an attractive, large dining room. The desk is attended at all times and the building is secured at night. My only mild criticism is better information on parking prior to check in would be a plus. A secured garage is under the hotel and available for $20 Euro per might. I'd stay there again, both for the hotel and the ancient attractions of Matera."

Marinagri Greenblu Hotel

8/10 Good

"The hotel is beautiful and in a great location but has some odd issues that make me think the management is skimping on maintenance. We noticed that the phone was not connected. When we brought it up to the front desk we were told that they were aware of the problem and they gave us the external number to the hotel so that we could call on our cell. No attempt was made to fix the phone. There was a leak from the bathroom sink. After we told them of the problem they did nothing about it. That evening we called about it. It took a while to explain the problem because the person that answered barely spoke English. They did send someone to mop up the floor but no one ever came to repair it. When we used one of the light switches it blew the circuit breakers in the room and also caused rooms near us to lose power too. They got it to work but that night at 1:00 AM it happened again. 8 of their staff showed up to fix it but no one was able too. Power was restored to the other rooms but never to ours. We moved to another room for the rest of our stay. We thought all this to be comical but none of the problems had been repaired when we left 2 days later. These things shouldn’t happen at a 5 star hotel."
