Point A Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket
10/10 Excellent
"PROS: Clean, neat, staff are amazing, literally impossible to get closer to the convention center.
CONS: Tiny rooms, no storage.
DETAILS:
I travel a lot and in my experience most people are pretty nice, but I don't think I've ever encountered hotel staff as unbelievably kind, cheerful, and welcoming as this. Some of it is Scotland (almost everyone I interacted with was just so sweet), but even then. The staff welcomed me, found me a room early because I was so jetlagged, helped me with my self-inflicted power problems, fed me coffee, and generally made me sorry to have to check out.
Otherwise, this is a standard European budget hotel. Everything is quite minimalist, but well maintained, bright, and clean. The rooms are super tiny and the "workspace" is pretty unusable, but the lobby is 24/7 and has lots of power and comfortable seats. My only real problem is that there's essentially no place to unpack stuff; you're living out of a suitcase.
Overall, I would stay again in a heartbeat."

Garner Edinburgh Haymarket by IHG
10/10 Excellent
"As a young, female solo traveler, this hotel was perfect. Good location for the bus and proximity to the city center. The staff was very friendly and at the desk 24/7. And the room and amenities are good for the price. "

Holiday Inn Edinburgh by IHG
10/10 Excellent
"Great hotel, exactly what we needed as a family of 3. Good selection of food for our 3 year old at the restaurant. Great location for visiting the zoo next door and easy access to the buses (bud stop straight outside hotel) "

Apex Waterloo Place Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"Loved it!!! Will definitely be back! Great location, friendly & helpful staff, plus loved the indoor pool & steam room. "

ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge - Royal Mile
2/10 Terrible
"The room smelled permanently of dirty drains. The reception staff were excellent and eventually moved us to another room. If you are a coeliac don't even consider staying here. I rang the hotel to check they actually did gluten free food before I made the booking and was told they definitely did. When I went down for the evening meal and asked what gluten free was available I was told a salad because they don't have many coeliacs staying. Enough said. "

Moxy Edinburgh Airport
8/10 Good
"Great room, clean and perfect location for the airport. Most staff lovely but a couple seemed really put out with our being there.
Bar area and food are fine but super busy and not enough staff.
Overall great and would stay again, just wish they had happier staff!"

Virgin Hotels Edinburgh
10/10 Excellent
"The staff was so kind and greeted us right away assisting with our bags and offering us a beverage upon arrival. We were exhausted after the walk from the train station and they helped us get settled and take our bags so we could settle for a bit and then sight see till our room was ready. Loved our stay and loved the room. "

Aparthotel Adagio Edinburgh Royal Mile
10/10 Excellent
"Great location and comfortable room with small kitchen and cooking supplies for preparing meals. Conveniently located near to the train station ( EDB ), about 8-9 minutes walk and right on the Royal mile. Groceries, coffee shops and restaurants are readily available nearby. Highly recommend and will definitely stay here again."
