Pleasurebly disappointed
This was supposed to be a romantic getaway but it wasn't. The weather played a major factor. The hotel was ok a bit rustic they upgraded me to a suite but it didn't have any wifi or a working television. The food was amazing but there was little to do as far as excursions. The staff was very kind and were working hard to help us but this definitely fell short of 4 stars which I was expecting. To top it of they charged me $80 for the boat ride to the island as if I could get there any other way but for them to shuttle me and my lady over there. Would I go back probably but not at that cost and functionality. They need more activities
The staffs were wonderful. They were very professional…the atmosphere was sooo welcoming❤️. Will definitely go back!

Très bel hotel avec de bonnes activités gratuites ( volley, foot sur la plage, basket, pins pong) mais difficulté a avoir du courant pendant tout le séjour
My disappointment started on the warf when they picked us up on a tiny boat than that was featured online. It was nerve wracking to board the boat and I did not want to cross the ocean in this tiny vessel since there were a lot of big waves. We were soaking-wet when we arrived 30 min. later at the resort. It is not worth the cost.
At the resort, I was given a different room then what I reserved which was not a big deal but the toilet seat in that room was old and rusty. It looked dirty because it was so old. They changed the toilet but did not change the seat; the seat was too small for the new toilet. I asked to be moved to my reserved room which took them 55 minutes to do although there were only 3 couples at the resort. The second room was nice and comfortable.I asked for a wash-cloth on two different occasions that I never received.
You can’t relax at the beautiful beach on the broken beach chair with missing cushions without being bitten by mosquitos. The resort is infested with mosquitos. They use a commercial fan in the dining area to keep the mosquitos away instead of treating for infestation. When I asked at dinner to treat my room for mosquitos, I was told I had to wait until tomorrow morning. That was another sleepless night for me.
Abaka Bay is in need of repair. The featured pictures are not current representation of Abaka Bay. Having said that, I missed the the polite wait staff who did their best everyday to keep our stomach full.
A beautiful, quiet, clean resort not too far from the capital. The beautiful water, the sun, the moon, a very kind and attentive staff. They took care of our needs quickly without any hesitations. I will be back very soon. Thank you Ketura!
A little slice of heaven! We brought our 3 kids- they loved it- went snorkeling hiking- very relaxing and the beach is amazing! Would def recommend this resort!
Abaka Bay is truly one of the most gorgeous beaches I’ve seen. The cottages are lovely and the one minor problem we had (a toilet that stopped flushing at one point) was very quickly resolved. My only complaints were about the food, which was bland to the point of being almost unbeatable- which is shocking given the delicious Haitian food I’ve had over the years! I suspect they may be attempting to tone down Haitian spice for foreign tongues, but AB would do much better to allow for authentic cuisine. Given the soul filling loveliness of the resort I rate this as a minor complaint.
Getting to the resort could be a challenge, however after you collected your senses, and your expectations are just begin to materialize, and your worries are things of the past, now you wonder it's real or fiction.
The sandy beach , the deep blue warm water, the sound of the waves crashing you think you are in paradise .
I can't wait to go back! Beautiful beach, lovely room with comfy king bed, kind and helpful staff that treated us like royalty, delicious Haitian food and fresh seafood, kayaking, amazing walks, swimming in the warm turquoise sea, gorgeous sunsets... I can't say enough good things about Abaka Bay. They made us feel like family. I highly recommend this gem of a resort! We stayed ten days, but I wish it could have been longer...
So much to offer, yet at every turn this "resort" falls short. Starting with the minimal greeting at the dock, where if we had not walked up to and inquired we would not have found the boat to cross from Les Cayes to Isle a Vache. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted, told we were the only guests, and offered a drink, introduced to the property and then found that our room request had not be forwarded to the staff.
I requested a cup of coffee as we had been travelling since early morning, it never came.
The room was adequate, except that the shower drain was open to below allowing insects and mosquitoes inside.
We went for lunch, found our table next to a pole blocking the view of the beach area, we moved to a table with a better view. Chicken drumsticks and fish steaks, average at best. Asked what we would like to drink I requested fruit juice, since I do not drink Sodas. Later I was given a bill for the fruit juice, this was to be the first of many additional fees, that for 22 hours seemed excessive.
Upon arrival we were told that the choices for dinner would include, lobster, shrimp, fish. goat, lambi, and chicken. We requested lobster and goat. Lobster not available, shrimp either. We ordered the lambi and the goat. Only the Goat was served. At breakfast the same with the eggs. Why serve a buffet for two people? When I requested an additional bottle of water i was told that it was in the room, the 1 bottle per person.
Sadly disappointing excursion,
I went to Abaka Bay just for curiosity because my friend was telling me about it. Now, I fall in love with the place. Reception was great, service great and food excellent and delicious. I planned to return and I am trying to bring some of my friends with me. Owners were nice and inviting. Fernand & Dina great job! Keep up the good work
It's not a hotel for me, the feel was as if I was at a family house. The staff made my stay at Abaka wonderful, I enjoyed every single moment spent with them, I miss them so and looking forward to seeing them again
We spent 4 days at the resort in the oceanfront suite. It was absolutely the most peaceful location. The staff led by Jean and Kentura were fabulous. The room was spacious and very clean with a small refrigerator and coffee maker. The three meals a day were great, they even made accommodations for my being a vegetarian.
We did go to lovers island which was a fun, unique experience. We did take the horses across the island and walked across the island as well. The kayaks from the resorts were the best. We can't wait to return!
