Hotel Innoshima

10/10 Excellent
"I became very aware of my American biases based on my first impression. But I quickly found out what a beautiful authentically Japanese experience this was. It’s hard to get there, but if you find the right bus line, you can get from Fukuyama station all the way up to the national park. The property is older and a bit dated, but it just feels historical to me."

"While it was “glamping”, the people there made all the difference! Nice bbq dinner and breakfast. A shoutout to Pierre who loves what he does! In all likelihood you will bump into a wonderful person, Daisake-san, who has been with Wakka for the longest time and was literally born on the grounds of what became Wakka. He is the boat captain who takes you out sightseeing and fishing (and if you catch something, he will make sashimi for you). Wonderful stop for us on our intermediate stop across the Shimanami bike ride."

Green Hill Hotel Onomichi

Green Hill Hotel Onomichi

10/10 Excellent
"I had a wonderful 3 nights stay at the Green Hill Hotel. The staff was very helpful and welcoming and the room absolutely spotless. I was in Onomichi for the Shimanami Kaido experience plus a day of sightseeing and I thought the hotel was perfectly located for both of those. It is also right in front of the train station, quite practical. The availability of the laundry in the hotel was really a plus. Will definitely return to the Onomichi area and at this hotel. I highly recommend."

SOIL Setoda

SOIL Setoda

10/10 Excellent
"This was the middle hotel on our 75 km Shimanami bike ride and we arrived very hot and tired. The room was not ready for us, but the staff happily took our bags so we could enjoy the town while the room was being prepared. Once we arrived in it, the room was a beautiful newly constructed all wood artsy dream place. Comfortable bed, beautiful, bathing facilities, and a woodfired restaurant downstairs that gave us an amazing meal, coincidentally with several members of the friendly staff whose company we really enjoyed. The hotel is very conveniently located in the middle of a beautiful island town with simple access to other restaurants, museums, and temples, shopping and a wonderful sunset beach Next time we do this ride, there is no doubt we will be staying here"

"It’s a stone throw away from the station. Initially went to store my luggage since I arrived earlier before check-in and both my luggage were sent straight to my room when I came back in the evening. Hotel may look dated but everything works well and it’s a comfortable stay."
