Hilton Head Island hotel rooms a the Independent

"Loved it! Beautiful hotel with a ton of great amenities. The property was clean and well maintained. Lots of good food and drink options on site and easy beach access. Good location - it’s tucked back but close enough to get to a couple of coffee shops, restaurants, etc on bikes. Would gladly stay again!"

"The pool was enjoyable. Did not like that you had to rent beach chairs for $18 single chair-$46(double beach chairs and umbrella) every day! At check-in you pay extra for resort amenities so I was confused when I had to pay extra to relax on Hilton’s beach property. "

"We’ve stayed here many times in the past, but this was the first time since Covid. It’s still a beautiful hotel and they said by next summer, they will have even more amenities. The staff is always wonderful. This year, I noticed paint peeling, faded furniture, stains on carpet, etc. Seems like they’re overdue for some touchups, but hopefully that’s all included with their updates they’re expecting by next summer. The only dissatisfaction I had was the loud DJ during the day. It was impossible to sit on the balcony and relax. Even with the door balcony door closed, it was too loud to relax or watch tv without being able to hear it. We were on 3rd floor on the far opposite side of where the DJ was. Can’t imagine how challenging it was for guests that were even closer. They did turn it down a bit when asked, but it was blaring from I think 10am-4pm, which is a long time to not be able to enjoy the room. The first day we went to the beach to get away from it. The background music is nice by the pool, just way too loud. The live music in the evening was at a much better volume and more calm, so we could barely hear on balcony and couldn’t hear it with glass door closed. Otherwise, as always, we loved our stay. I’m sure we’ll be back again. It’s still one of our favorite hotels."

"When we checked in they put us in a bounce queen bed trim when we had booked king size. The first room looked poorly maintained, heaters looked burnt out, tv was missing hdmi cable. When we went to front desk they did move us to a king size bed room. But tv remote was connected to cable box. This was fixed. King size room does not have a fridge in it. When I asked I was told the room I booked did not have fridge but in checking on site none of rooms say if they have a fridge. All hotels and motels we have stayed at in the past all had fridges. To top things off there seemed to people smoking marijuana around the property."

"The experience was excellent. The only hiccup was when checking in with time-share, the office closed at 5 pm and didn't open until 10 am the next day. The hotel insisted that we deal with the time-share to finalize check-in. This was somewhat of a inconvenience."
