If you happen to be in Iceland, hop on a quick ferry ride to the Westman Islands. Here you can hike up the active Eldfell Volcano. Chain island's of Vestmann. The biggest and inhabited one is Heimaey. The new island was formed in 1968 and taken under protection by UNESCO in pursuit of investigation of how life develops on an uninhabited island. Heimaey is also a home for the greatest number of puffins in Iceland.
I had walked up a very steep way. To the top of an old vulcano crater, to enjoy this wonderful view.

Yeah not a great experience. No staff after we checked in and another guests key was just left on the front desk??? Strange. A cot was left in the room.(which was already small). Bathroom was recently redone but the rest of the room was very dated. No elevator for anyone that can’t handle stairs. ...
