A lovely place to stay. We upgraded to a Superior room for a very small fee and it was large, comfy and clean. The pool area was fantastic with plenty of seating. An ideal location for us on our way up to Lake Tahoe and across from the casino.

For a small town of Hawthorne, the rooms seemed to be newly renovated, well kept and extremely clean. Security cameras were numerous throughout the property which provided extra comfort knowing vehicles were secure. Highly recommended and will be placing this on our list of future places to stay.

Room was spacious, well lit and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The area around the motel was clean, for the most part. The pet area had bags for pet owners to use, it’s too bad some chose not to use them. There are food options available close by which is helpful. We appreciate the area for parking trucks with trailers but wish it was better lit for safety and security reasons.

We booked three rooms for our group, and two of them were perfectly fine. However, the third room (I believe it was Room 207) had a very strong cigarette smell, even though it was listed as a non-smoking room. We left the door open for a couple of hours in the middle of July, hoping the smell would go away, but it didn’t. We went to the front desk and asked if the room was supposed to be non-smoking. The staff member confirmed that it was. After we explained how strong the cigarette odor was, she told us that all the rooms on the bottom floor were smoking rooms. She was very helpful and moved us to a different room in another wing, and the difference was like night and day. My suggestion for Travelodge is to avoid placing non-smoking rooms directly above smoking rooms. Smoke odors can travel upward and end up in the rooms above. It would make more sense to designate an entire wing, or at least part of a wing, for smoking rooms, especially since most hotel rooms today are non-smoking. Other than that, the stay was good. The replacement room was much better, and the pool was nice and cool, which was perfect for the hot weather.
