"Professional and friendly staff. We stayed one night arriving quite late after a long drive - good nights sleep and great shower.
Great value and great food options either in the hotel or on site as venue located at a motorway service station. Free parking which is a great bonus."
"The hotel was clean and well presented, and although I didn’t have time to use the facilities, everything appeared in good order.
Unfortunately, the breakfast was very disappointing. The “full English” only included scrambled eggs, with no option for fried or poached eggs, and there were no cold meats or cheeses available. There wasn’t even any marmalade. At £17.50, it was certainly not worth the price."
"We had a really lovely hotel stay at The Wotton House Hotel. Staff were all very friendly and helpful, our room was lovely overlooking the gardens, which with the hotel were both stunning, and the amenities were great.
The only slight downside was the breakfast which was a little chaotic and could have been so much better if staff had managed to keep up with the service requirements. We spent most of the time searching round or asking staff for various items of cutlery, crockery and food items that were missing or had run out and there was quite a lot of mess and spillages that weren't dealt with.
Otherwise our stay would have been perfect!"
"I had a lovely stay at the Red Lion. My travel plans got changed, but the staff were incredibly accommodating and immediately put me at ease - couldn't do enough for me which is always appreciated.
The rooms themselves are very cozy and comfortable - I particularly liked the abundance of bird paintings and prints as decor, they were genuinely nice surprise.
The shower was a particular highlight, two different showerheads, great water pressure and some lovely complimentary shower gel and conditioner.
As I was staying over a weekend, the hotel staff took the courtesy of warning about potential noise from the nearby high street, however this was a non-issue during my stay - once the window was shut, I put my head down to sleep with no issues whatsoever.
I would quite gladly stay at the Red Lion again next time I'm in Basingstoke, the place has a real charm and character to it and the service was genuinely excellent."
"Always had good stay with village before but this time there was problem at check in as I booked through Expedia. Paid through Expedia, and only had to pay for late check out at hotel but they tried to take full stay and the extra payment. They kept saying there was issue as there was insufficient fund in my card but I had already paid for stay. They blamed Expedia for this. Already a bad start to the stay. The rooms itself are good then when it came to the next day, even though we paid for late checkout cleaning staff opened the door while we were sleeping at 11. No knock prior. Overall bad experience this time. "
