"This is a large old hotel in an old spa town. My first room required lugging my suitcase along many corriders through and around corners. I asked fir another room close to the elevator and they kindly obliged. -actually giving me a much nicer room. The hotels.com room was very very basic and small. The staff was always helpful . I enjoyed my 3 day stay. I had a big english breakfast with French press coffee instead if the ever present and tiresome m, extremely bitter espresso machines!"

"We had a suite at the hotel, it was very roomy, full of character and access to a superior breakfast! All well worth the money. Staff were friendly and very helpful too. The only grumble we had, we asked for a fan and there were non available. I've not made this impact the overall stay rating as the weather was unusually extremely hot so the same request had probably came from all rooms - i would say the hotel should have invested in more fans in preparation for the heat wave that week. Also, the breakfast was probably 8/10, but as we arrived quite late in the morning, it was probably the last of the breakfast served to us, again not marked it down as feel would be unfair"

"Ideal location for us, just a short 10-min walk to the town centre. Our room was spacious and bathroom appeared recently renovated. Staff were very friendly and helpful. As it is a very old building, the floorboards were a bit creaky and woodwork (skirting boards, window frames, architraves) looked tired with their years of layered paint, but we had a comfortable stay. The free parking was a bonus."
